Brunch / Cafes π³π₯πβοΈ
Iβve been here a couple of times and Iβm glad to say that this place never disappoints. I wouldnβt say that their stuff is mind-blowingly good, but theyβre all fail-safe brunch staples. Definitely my go-to place for a satisfying brunch in Serangoon. π₯³
πππ Their Mushroom Bacon Carbonara ($20.9) is reeeeally creamy & comforting. And as usual, I love how they donβt skimp on their ingredients. ππΌ
π¦π Cereal Prawn Pasta ($21.4): Spicy Aglio Olio with a local twist to itβ featuring their βHawker-style Cereal Butter Prawnβ.
This plate of pasta had the perfect flavour mashup, nailing the sweet and savoury balance. Theyβre pretty generous with their ingredients as well & everything was well-coated with the aromatic blend of garlic, chilli, butter and cereal β truly an explosion of flavours.π₯
π Their Truffle Bacon Mushroom Farfelle ($17) was hearty and comforting. I loved the texture of the Farfelle and theyβre really generous with their ingredients! ππΌ
π The Honey BBQ Babyback Ribs ($22) was great too! Fall-off-the-bone: CHECKβοΈ Fork-tender: CHECKβοΈ Well-seasoned: CHECKβοΈ
Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we paid 22 NETT in total for two mains. π€© So. Worth. It.
Iβll definitely come back to try the other mains! π€
π₯ It looks unassuming, but for its price point, I would say that it was a fairly satisfying bowl.
I had a Half Fusilli Pasta, Half Salad base with Smoked Salmon, Baby Spinach, Wakame, Egg Mayonnaise, Avocado, Tobiko and Spicy Mayonnaise β all for $12.
$27 for The Breakfast Works. Not worth it if you do not have Burpple Beyond (1-for-1).
β€οΈ Loved the buttery toasted Brioche and the creamy texture of the scrambled eggs.
π Bacon was overcooked and a tad too salty (and dry) for my liking.
π€£ There was only ONE slice of βsmokedβ salmon (inverted commas cos TBH it just tasted like stale sashimi). For $27, I would definitely expect more, but since I was using Burpple Beyond, I have no complains!
βοΈ Coffee was amazing! We had a hot Mocha ($5.50) and a hot Vanilla Latte ($5.50). Full-bodied. Smooth. Loved it. π―
I would definitely come back here for a satisfying cuppa, but for the food... I guess thereβs still some room for improvement!
π·πI did not foresee myself enjoying the Pork & Pear Tartine ($20.9). I mean... bacon & pear?? Sounds like a hella odd combination π§ BUT I was pleasantly surprised by how well each of the ingredients complemented one another. (Though I must add that towards the end, the dish got a little too sweet for my palate)
π·π I loved the chewy texture of the Farro grains in the Miso Bacon Risotto ($23.50). Paired with fried enoki and bits of Miso Bacon, this dish was hearty and full of character (+ it definitely wasnβt as cloying as most risottos).
π Thought their Iced Mocha ($7.5) was rather disappointing. Tasted like an Iced Long Black with a dash of cocoa powder. π Would probably appreciate it if it was less diluted (more milk, less water).
