Third visit here and decided to try their rice bowls instead.

Boy, was I glad to do so. The meat slices were thick, juicy and tender. The vegetables added colours to the dish but did little else in terms of flavour. The rice portion was solid enough for someone with a larger than average appetite. This dish which was absolutely worth it and value for money.

Surprisingly, the soup that accompanied this dish was much tastier than the soup broth that came with the ramen which my partner ordered. 😅 The owner may wish to seriously consider using the former for the ramen as well.

Be warned: the place may get a little crowded during dinner time on the weekedays. Due to the current safe distancing measures, one may need to wait a while before getting a seat at these timings.

Although the fried rice was merely average, the pork cutlets were an absolute delight - thick slices of juicy pork enveloped with a crispy batter. What surprised me as well was the very reasonable price of the dish (approx $11 or less). Definitely value for money.

Thick tonkotsu broth, with slices of tender pork cheek, black garlic oil and topped with roasted crispy garlic chips. Overall, a very hearty and satisfying bowl of ramen noodles at approx $13.

A shout out to their staff as well. Although they seemed a little short-handed, their service was really warm and friendly once you get their attention.

Will most definitely return for more. 😋

Comforting bowl of pork udon with a runny egg and smooth chewy udon noodles. Personally, I prefer the sanuki beef udon over the pork udon as the former is more flavourful. Nevertheless, a decent and reasonably priced bowl of udon with value that's hard to beat.

There is usually a queue at the stall, so you may wish to head down during early lunch or early dinner hours to avoid the queue.

Ordered this with the burrple one for one deal as the black curry looked interesting and exotic.

Unlike the usual Japanese curry which tends to be slightly sweet, this curry was a little too salty for our liking. That said, the pork loin portions were generous and thick, with a thin coat of batter which was both crispy and light in our mouths. Wouldn't mind being back to order the pork loin cutlet, without the curry.

The place is located at Sunshine Plaza, which is a short walk Bras Basah and Bencoolen mrt stations. There weren't many people when we went there, this may appeal to those who want a quiet place to have a decent meal.

Decent unagi tamago don; there's nothing much to rave about this dish. The unagi had the right balance of sweetness and savouriness.

Returned here for the second time to try their other ramen dishes. The smoked duck ramen is alright and what you would expect; nothing to shout about. Prefer the sweet sake pork ramen which I had ordered previously.

Fried Gyoza Skewers with Bonito Flaws at $5.90.

The gyozas were alright. I know the menu reads "fried gyozas" but the chef could perhaps turn down the frying by a few notches.

Would have been much better if the gyozas were not so deep fried.

Tried the salmon rice bowl with the burpple one for one offer (along with the truffle shimeji mushroom pasta).

Never have I seen salmon that's so deep fried. It is by no means that horrible - surprisingly the salmon was still tender and moist inside and not stripped of all moisture during the frying process.

Nevertheless, this dish would have been much more palatable if the salmon was not this deep fried.

While this dish looks kind of unassuming, the flavour profile of this dish is anything but that.

Good amount of fried shimeji mushrooms with a very distinct truffle flavour. Truffle lovers will love this dish; but some might consider the truffle flavour profile a little too overpowering.

Definitely a must try for those who love mushrooms and truffle !

Found this place while wandering around Kovan.

The broth light but still flavourful, the ramen had a good amount of springiness and the chashu had a hint of smokiness to it. All these packed into a bowl which costs less than $8.

While the shop does not stand in the same league with more famous establishments, this is value for money and you can get your ramen fix at this establishment if you are in the area. The shop is just 5 min walk way from Kovan station.

Oh and for those who prefer to pay with credit cards, you will be pleased to note that this place allows credit card payments as well !
