Soooo wobbly yet firm, I don’t know how this textural contrast exists. The owner is very friendly (and very good at upselling lol) but he was also very considerate to pack the coconut flakes for us separately so we could keep this to eat over the next three days.
The rendang was deliciously thick and spicy, but unfortunately the beef cubes were a tad tough.
The squid was soft and chewy, and the sambal broth tasted light. Generally a pleasant dish, but not particularly outstanding that would warrant a return.
This was LIFE-CHANGING. I am truly embarassed to say, as a half-Peranakan, that I had no idea babi pongteh could taste so delicious until I tried Godmama's rendition. The stew was aromatic and you could really taste the blend of crushed spices. The babi was unbelievably tender as well.
