We have been going to this place since it first opened nearly 20 years ago. Prices have gone up quite a bit, and are now on the high side for the ambience and service. The food is still as reliable and diverse as ever. Recommended are all parts of chicken (balls, cartilage, heart, liver, gizzards, butt, skin, etc), puffer fish, taufu in century egg sauce, pork cheek, ginko nuts, garlic fried rice, Shunjuu salad. The sake list is long, but cold beer also goes well with the yummy grilled dishes.

Back for more of Esora’s Takeaway Katsu Sando, I just had to try their new Ebi Katsu ($28). Think plump chunks of prawns in the compact ebi cutlet sandwiched between finely shredded cabbage, savoury sauce, shiso, and lightly toasted milk bread. Fried to perfection, the battered exterior was pleasantly light and thin. The crispy katsu was also surprisingly succulent and held the distinct note of crustacean sweetness. Though, as someone who is not terribly fond of shiso, I would have to say that the fragrance of the leaves was a tad overpowering.

Tried their wagyu beef noodles with tomato broth and i must say it’s really quite tasty! The beef chunks are tender and tomato broth is rich but not too gelat. Comes with half a lava egg too! Would be a more complete meal if they included some veggies. Worth it with #burpplebeyond

A very tasty bowl of noodles! It isn’t as spicy as it sounds, the mala is more of a subtle accent to the dish. It tastes very similar to dandan noodles with the minced pork and chilli oil. Noodles were of great texture and quality. I enjoyed it.

Go for this dish if you are at Chef Kang’s Noodle House instead of the prawn noodles. Both dishes come with the crispy pork cutlet, which frankly goes better with rice.

The dish get its name from the preparation methods, where the chef ignite negi oil to the point of flames before pouring it over their signature broth.
The result is a char smoky broth that enhanced the flavour of broth.
