I remember having the prawn mee from One Prawn & Co when they were still a hawker stall at Golden Mile Food Centre, and thought that it was decent but not memorable. I recently tried them again at their new location and this time, it has definitely levelled up!

The prawn mee broth, which we were told is made with over 48kg of prawn heads & pork bones, and boiled for over 20 hours, is so much ricer and full-bodied than before. And all of their prawn broth & ingredients are now cooked and served in claypots, which I feel also contributes to the improved taste. We had the Five Fortune Jumbo Prawns Claypot ($30): a pot of goodness filled with jumbo-sized prawns, pork shabu slices, pork ribs, tobiko prawn balls & clams, and also the Shabu Sliced Pork & Prawns ($14) together with our noodles. Both were really enjoyable, especially the jumbo claypot which had that extra sweetness (probably from the clams) in the broth.

And what’s prawn mee without a Wu Xiang Xia Bing pairing? We tried their Ngoh Tasting Platter ($8.50, 1-2pax) which includes Pork Ngoh Hiang, Crispy Prawn Cracker, Seafood Roll, Handmade Fish cake, Sotong Youtiao, and Fried Beancurd. We liked that the items were fried to order, so they maintain their crispiness, and they went well with the tasty chilli sauce!

I’d definitely recommend visiting this place if you’re a prawn mee lover. Although the prices are on the stepper side, I would say it’s worth it for the quality!

Recently discovered this hidden gem of a Prawn Mee: Xiang Zai Prawn Noodle in Hougang. What I like about their prawn mee is the broth that’s flavourful, yet not too heavy on the palate! The dry version with pork ribs is good too – I liked the tender pork ribs, and the savouriness and heat of the noodles that have been tossed in chilli. The dry version comes with the same broth on the side! They offer clam soup too, which is filed with a generous portion of fresh lala as you can see from my pic!

Found another good prawn mee place to satisfy my cravings! Love the robust broth, plus the fresh prawns and pork lards too in my bowl of Classic Prawn Noodle! They have a variety of other prawn mee options too, including the Penang style version which I will be trying next. Look out for my review!

Tried the prawn mee from this popular stall in Toa Payoh area recently, and it was pretty good! You get a pretty substantial portion for $5, and the noodles tasted really good after mixing it up with the savoury concocted sauce! Prawns were fresh too and the soup by the side was rich and flavourful! Will definitely be back again if i’m in the area and need a good prawn mee fix for dinner / supper!

When you talk about the best prawn noodles in Singapore, this place is certainly amongst them. The soup is the main star with all its robustness and umami, followed by the fresh prawns and tender pig’s tail. At the same coffeeshop, do get the wu xiang / ngoh hiang to go with your prawn noodles. It is one of the better ones we’ve tried too!

The soup is the star of this dish; so rich and flavourful, i could taste the sweetness from the prawn stock. The pork ribs were very good too; so tender and the meat could be pulled apart easily. One of the array of food stalls that you got to try at Hong Lim Complex Food Centre!

I usually go for the soup version when it comes to prawn mee but decided to go with the dry one here and it was a decision with no regrets. Sauce mix was flavourful, while the chilli was very good! They are also open 24 hours, a good place to satisfy your prawn mee cravings in the middle of the night.

Soup is tasty while prawns are fresh, only downside is the pork ribs that taste average. Overall, still worth trying.
