Jasmine rice submerged in rich savoury seafood soup with egg floss to amplify the strong lobster notes, perfected with roasted rice puff and spring onions. The rice was the star. The lobster was just a side. Don’t get me wrong - the lobster was fresh and sweet but the rice was simply heavenly comforting and fulfilling that I’d gladly shared some of the lobster to my friend.
This is what beckoned for my return to Tim Ho Wan. A replacement to Teochew Dumpling that was removed from the menu. This goes extremely well with chilli padi and vinegar.
Trusty comfort fried rice according to my mom, however the manager’s service is super lacking and stuck up. It was the attentive server in her maybe 60s that added that warmth to end the meal with happy note. P

Lovely, light, nothing too overwhelming.
Tomato-based sesame chicken that made me crave for some white rice to balance out the strong flavoursome sesame note. Shedded chicken was tender.
Chawamushi was smooth, flavourful; shark fin was a little too thick for my liking, might do better with more vinegar.
Siew Mai was not porky - as someone who doesnt like pork beyond pork knuckle, i could surprisingly do 2 of these. Har Gow was awesome, exuded the sweetness of the prawn, skin was good- chewy yet light. Delicate.
Custard tasted light, dough was airy nothing heavy. Delicate.
No spark but nothing bad.
