Went during Restaurant Week for dinner at one of Singapore's oldest Japanese restaurants. Unfortunately didn't live up to its name...

I would have considered the original restaurant week menu price of SGD68++ per pax overpriced given the quality of the food. For the restaurant week menu, items from the cold bar were served - and I was undeniably disappointed by the quality of the sashimi and sushi that were served. The sushi rice was dry and felt like stale rice that had been left in the fridge over night. And look at the maki (pic) where they didn't even wrap it properly - all 3 pieces for me and all 3 pieces for my companion were like this.

We also topped up for teppanyaki chicken and A5 Wagyu (120g), paying about SGD160++ more in total, since it was supposed to be a teppanyaki restaurant. Chicken and Wagyu were both served with stale dry garlic chips that tasted like it was bought from the supermarket (not prepared freshly). Nothing remarkable. Wagyu was nice of course but I could find more affordable and equally, if not better, options elsewhere easily.

Service wise it was friendly but there was also a trainee who didn't seemed adequately trained. I don't think the level of service matched up to the supposedly reputation of the restaurant and of course the prices. Towards the end of the meal, we received nearly no attention. Unfortunately they seated us in a quiet corner of the restaurant for the DiningCity Restaurant Week menu, so it was hard to even have anyone walking by to catch their attention.

Finally, our table had ants crawling all over. We looked under and realised there was a small section that was uncleaned (rather dusty) and full of ants.
