Won't go back
Supposedly a healthier version of the usual orange-hued tonkatsu, but as with most heather versions of dishes, this felt rather lacklustre. Batter wasn't as crunchy and flavourful, and the pork was quite tough and bland. Didn't really enjoy this meal, except for the free flow rice/cabbage/miso soup.
Shrimp Aglio Olio ($20) and Fish & Chips ($25).
Both fishes were pretty meh and lacklustre. You would think that you're paying a premium for the Marina Bay view, but unless you're sitting outside (which I've observed have trouble getting the attention of the wait staff inside) there isn't much of a view to see except the sad dishes on the table. Plenty of other great food and drink spots around the bay that has food worth its price.
Prawn Aglio Olio ($16.90), BYO Pink Sauce w/ Mushrooms ($12.40), Royal Ragu ($14.40). Taste-wise was alright, but the pasta was slightly overcooked and royal Ragu had some strange hard grits in it. Portion was also small for its price.
BEWARE. Nowhere in the Burpple T&C was this mentioned, but the manager will only apply the 20% off for one main. This is dishonest practice and left a bad taste in my mouth. The food wasn't even memorable but this incident still remains in my memory and made me decide not to return ever.
Utilised Burpple 1 for 1 for Parmesan Risotto ($17) and Aglio Olio ($15.90). Beware that while the pictures (for both) shown on the menu contains prawns, those are actually add-ons and thus we were suitable confused when our meals came and it looked so bare. Risotto was dry and some grains were undercooked. Aglio Olio was bland.
Pretty delish, felt healthy, but expensive for a daily (or even weekly) meal. Umami sauce was basically Soya sauce, wouldn't recc.
Garlic Snowing Pizza ($26)
Ratatouille Pizza ($22) - free with Burpple 1 for 1 pizza
Garlicholic Rice ($25)
Garlic Snowing Pizza had a sweet-savoury taste that reminded me of when I mixed mayo and condensed milk together on my sandwich. Ratatouille pizza was terrible, literally bland slices of veggies scattered on tasteless tomato sauce that didn't even cover the base. Garlicholic Rice just tasted like those I could get from the zichar under my block for $5...
Average dish, couldn't really taste the pesto. Accompanied by breaded fish and prawns.
Lacklustre broth that tasted more peppery than prawny. The $5.50 noodle also only has 2 small prawns and a handful of slices pork.
Weekday Dinner promo menu again. Slipper lobster and chicken steak set for $14.80. 50% off selected sides with every main course purchase. With a set add-on, total came up to about $44.
Nothing to shout about for the chicken steak and slipper lobster. Carbonara and buffalo wings were especially bad; carbonara was too creamy in a bad way (jelat and fake) while buffalo wings had a strange taste, almost like marmite (sweet-sourish).
Tried their current promotion of 1 for 1 Dory n Chips with a side of either Chicken tender or Country Mushrooms. Don't think is worth it even after 1 for 1. You can prolly find better at some coffeeshop western.
Found out Jack's Place has a weekday dinner promo going on so decided to try. A different set every night for $14.80++, this was the Tuesday NZ Sirloin Steak & Cheesy Prawn set. Steak was quite bland and tasteless even with the sauce, but the prawns and potatoes were good.
