The only shop with long queue in the entire empty lane. $9 for 2 huge cups of ice cream with toppings is pretty worth it.

We got both the ice cream of the week - chocolate mud pie and the earl grey lavender.

The chocolate mud pie has a very strong chocolate taste and hot fudge hidden inside the the middle layer and comes with 2 big piece of brownies plus cream. I feel gelat after a while.

Whereas the earl grey is light, refreshing and the delicious lavender syrup hits just the right spot. When the ice cream melts, eating with with the rice pops reminds me of eating cereals with fancy flavoured milk.

Overall, my personal favourite is still the earl grey. Definitely will drop by again to try other flavours 👍🏻

+ point, there are 2 benches in front of the shop you can sit there and enjoy the ice cream.

Staffs aren’t as friendly when I asked questions... Latte is pretty light tasting. The pastry feels kinda stales which got me thinking if they are baked fresh on a daily basis... the location of the shop in this mall is a little tricky to find too.

As a mala xiao la person, this is not even xiao la. The intestines is very tender and soft, no weird funky smell. Portion is huge. The noodles is not that springy as what I expected. The tomato soup is thick and tasty, not that salty. We got 2 side dishes, pork stomach and cucumber bean curd. I especially love the cucumber as its surprisingly refreshing with the nut sauce. It would be even better if it is cold. The downside is that before the 1-1 it really is expensive, the shop’s seats are kinda limited. If you are sitting on the counter table, there are wireless charger built in (not all are working).

For someone that eats mala xiao la, this is definitely a Zhong la for me. Imo, I find that this is a refreshing and tasty bowl of noodle to have on a hot day. The soup is thick, no fishy smell, sour and smooth to drink. Portion is huge too. The side dishes especially the cucumber is surprisingly refreshing. It would be even better if it is cold. The downside is that before the 1-1 it really is expensive, the shop’s seats are kinda limited. If you are sitting on the counter table, there are wireless charger built in (not all are working).

We came by for brunch over the weekends, service was quick, the owner was funny, friendly and attentive too.

We had Chicken Vindaloo, Mutton Rogan Josh, Garlic Naan, Phudina Paratha.

The mutton was a little chewy but there was no weird mutton smell in the Rogan Josh. The dish itself was aromatic and there is a hint of spiciness in it.

Whereas the Chicken Vindaloo was ON FIRE 🔥 🔥 no doubt it’s delicious but really spicy for me and addictive. I was surprised that there a lot of chicken in this dish. The owner was busy refilling my glass with ice water 🤣

Both breads were delicious but I prefer the naan more because of its fluffier texture compared to the paratha which is a little dense.

I’m definitely dropping by again, there are so many things on the menu that I want to try.

Pop by on Friday evening, expecting the place to be busy. Except it’s not. The huge restaurant was really empty. There were only 2 other table + us.

After reading the reviews, we decided to pick something different. We used one of the 1–1 deal for the Babi pongteh and Sambal kangkong plus the ikan on its own.

The rice is free flow, you can pick between the blue pea rice $2 or the plain rice. You can’t just order one plate to share. There were reviews mentioning it smells super fragrant, however to me it’s just lumpy rice with uneven colour, definitely not fresh out of the pot kind of fluffy rice. We had Chinese tea, it came in a pot. Refillable too.

The server was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was.. quiet. Obviously. Lol.

Straits Chinese nonya restaurant also uses 2 robots to deliver the food from the kitchen. Pretty entertaining to hear the cheery music and watch it goes back and forth while avoiding bumping into anything/anyone.

Overall, will I go back again? No. I don’t think I will.

The kuey was complimentary, in fact, the kuey tasted so much better than the durian pengat… 😒

The first thing that catches your attention with durian should be the aroma, however when I place this under my nose.. I couldn’t smell any distinctive durian smell.. I don’t know how long it was prepared and kept in the fridge hence that’s why there is no durian smell?

The taste itself is bland, you can feel the texture of the pulp and it’s not sweet. Overall, I would say save your money and calories on this tiny shot glass dessert.

Imo, this was the best dish among what we ate. The rempah from the Sambal was good but it could be spicier (it’s the equivalent of eating Mala but you asked for very xiao la). The veg was crunchy and refreshing and goes well with the rice.

The meat is really tender, the important thing missing was the flavour itself. Personally, it’s really light. I can taste the saltiness and that’s it. The mushrooms didn’t soak up any of the sauce. When chewed, plain mushroom water just gushed out. I also haven’t seen lettuces used in Babi pongteh..
