Date Night
Fly Me To The Moon was a nice mix of sweet and sour, very refreshing. Paradise Shake was a bit too much on the sweet side.
Wasn't the best Aglio Olio I've tasted, a little bit on the milder and sweeter side. Tiger prawns, while big, was quite tasteless.
Chicken thigh was oh so tender and the crisp skin was just *chefs kiss*. The sauce started off being too salty but the mashed potatoes absorbed it so well and it grew on me by the end. Definitely try this, definitely worth the price and made even better with the BB141
Oriental Mushroom Soup ($6): Was curious to know how oriental mushroom soup could be, but just tasted like those egg drop soup with some mushrooms here and there. Not recommended.
Shellfish Linguine ($26): Slipper lobster wasn't fresh but pasta was decent, tasted like dry prawn noodles. Adding the prawn broth on the side gave it a flavour twist - spicier and slightly bitter from the prawn heads. Meatballs on the side were juicy. Portion was a little bit small though.
Golden Flower cocktail ($22): Great presentation and tasted citrusy and fruity.
This was simply amazing. Tender and juicy chicken, sauce so good I wanted to kick it off the plate, potatoes accompaniment also hit the mark, and roasted garlic bulb added an extra dimension to the dish. wow.
Huge chunk of burrata nestled within a greens party of roasted asparagus, snap peas, arugula, edamame. Burrata was oh so creamy, with the balsamic and pesto adding layers of tart and savoury to it. Wasn't too keen on the accompanying salad though, the mintiness wasn't to my taste.
Think they had a menu revamp and the Uni pasta wasn't like how I remembered it :( The sauce didn't have the same umami and creaminess, and it felt more like the uni was a garnish. Pasta just tasted like pasta water, black pepper, and the tobiiko. Disappointing!!
1 for 1 with Fuzzie:
Spicy Chilli Crab Rigatoni w/ Smoked Ricotta Cheese and Basil ($24)
BBQ pork Ribs w/ 2 sides ($28)
Pasta was divine; both my partner and I were blown away by it. Assumed it would just be the typical Singapore chilli crab sauce but in reality it was more like a creamy tomato base with the ricotta and basil giving it some oomph. Really recommend this!
BBQ pork ribs was also done right - tender and fall off the bone. You can choose the sauce and 2 sides, and we chose Homemade BBQ, Fries & Potato Puree. Of special note was the potato puree which had hints of saffron.
We also had a margarita but for the price ($18) there was nothing to shout about.
Came back again cos I was raving about the Mushroom Risotto to my friends and they wanted to try. Didn't disappoint! Too bad we missed the Happy Hour but will come back again before 7pm to try the drinks.
We also had the Creamy Parma spaghetti and the Cajun Chicken, both were good as well but wasn't standout. We also had the Saute Mushrooms and Sambal Eggplants tapas to complete the meal. Total came up to about 62bux, was a good meal.
Decided to hit this cosy restaurant at 111 Somerset because we had Fuzzie 1 for 1, and we definitely didn't regret it!
The Truffle Mushrooms Risotto with Asparagus ($22, pictured top) was robust and bursting with flavour from the truffle and mushrooms, with the asparagus adding a welcome crunch to the entire experience. So good!
The Spicy Iberico Chorizo ($20, pictured bottom) on the other hand, was pretty one-note in terms of the Marinara sauce. The bits of chorizo felt more like grits, and there were times I bit into something abnormally hard but couldn't figure out what it was. Give this a miss.
The Happy Hour Sangria was pretty cheap and good! but not sure if happy hour is still avail since I don't see it on the online menu anymore.
