Celebrated a special occasion recently at Perle Noire Restro Bar (PN Resto Bar, formerly Black Pearl Steakhouse). Almost buried in the Friday night bustle of a street lined with bars, one couldâve passed this new-ish (rebranded) gem by. With few reviews online, the steaks were highâ but PN certainly did not disappoint.
ð¥©Wagyu Ribeye (U.P. $72; $57 for the whole of August) has always been synonymous with marbling and flavour, still PNâs rendition was exceptional. The richness did not overwhelm the gentler flavours of the meat juices, and was given a further lilt by the beet potato salad. We liked the Wagyu better in steak form but the BRIOCHE bun of the Signature Wagyu beef burgerð ($32) was all-around tender BRILLIANCE that we would have gotten on its own if possible. ð¥£Soup of the Day ($12) had a sweet-savoury taste we acquired rather quicklyâthink molten cream cheese with carrot, emanating distinct milky notes which felt strange before they became soothing.
