Backyard Birdie Bagel was hearty and filling. The chicken was battered and fried to a nice golden crispy while maintaining moist. The scrambled egg was a hard scrambled as it was fully cooked and firm. Would be better if it was softer and creamy.
A lighter, creamier and wholesome sandwich made with avocado slices, sauteed mushrooms, sunny side-up, tomatoes, gouda and garlic aioli. The mushrooms were tasty and earthy, and added a "meaty" texture. It was satisfying enough and not heavy on the stomach and tastebuds.
There's something comforting about a grilled cheese toast and Korio's version simply hits the spot. It was perfectly toasty and melty with the cheese-pull from a mixture of cheddar and American cheese. Combined with the sweet caramelised onions, roma tomatoes and grilled sourdough bread, it was hearty and satisfying in all the right ways.
This meatwich was served in a brochie bun and it was mildly spicy, saucy and loaded with flavours. The chicken was flavourfully tender and there was the crunch and sweetness from the grilled capsicum. Soaking up the marinate, the brioche bun was light and toasty with its sweetness balancing out the spice.
Loaded with chicken katsu, melted cheddar, apple slaw and whisky bbq sauce, the outlet-exclusive Whisky BBQ Katsu Sando was a perfect savoury sandwich that satisfies. It had a slightly sweet yet smoky and meaty flavour to it with a nice texture and refreshing tang from the slaw. The thickness of the chicken katsu was just nice and was crispy and juicy.
The popular Nitamago Potato Salad Sando ($14) was carbs on carbs as it consisted of oozy ramen eggs paired with potato salad and truffle oil. It was somewhat unconventional as it was cold, creamy and refreshing. The Lemongrass Chicken Sando ($14) features thai marinated grilled chicken thigh, cabbage, tomato and yuzu and karashi mayo. It had a lighter taste than expected as the thai marinate on the tender chicken was subtle.
Loaded with shreds of beef, the Classic Beef Bagel ($12.90) had a nice chewy bite to it with a flavourful meaty taste. The bagel bread itself was pretty good with slight chewiness and fluff. It's relatively smaller than other bagel-wiches I had and I wish there was more bite to it.
The Chicket Cutlet Sando ($5.90) is made with a crispy cutlet and a slab of egg sandwiched between two white bread slices. Though it was simple and wasn't a flavourfully loaded sandwich and the egg lacked any fluffiness, it was a filling one that was satisfying enough for a quick lunch grab. The sando also came with a couple of crispy and tasty hashbrowns and a cup of hot coffee/tea.
An asian-inspired number which is made up of white sourdough loaded with gochujang-glazed spam, fried egg, aged cheddar, kimchi and caramelised onion. It is topped off with a drizzle of mayo and nori flakes. This was a very filling and satisfying sandwich though it felt a bit heavy for me and was a tad messy eating it.
Featuring the signature Bag Me Up Bagel ($16.50), We Will Wagyu Bagel ($16.50) and Swee N Chic Bagel ($12.50). A unqiue combination, the Bag Me Up bagel is packed with unagi slices, ham, lettuce and house-made herb mayo. The unagi had a nice charred taste to it and was sweet and savoury with tangy creaminess from the sauce. The meat was a tad thin but considering its price point, it was acceptable.
Freshly prepared upon order, the Beef Chilli Cheese was assembled with scrambled eggs pressed between buttered toasted bread and topped with minced beef chilli and nacho cheese. The fluffy scrambled eggs together with the savoury beef sauce and nacho cheese complemented well with the thick, soft and fluffy bread. It could do with a bit more spicy kick but other than that, it was a hearty sandwich and a filling one as they gave a generous serving of the toppings.
The Halibut Sando ($16.80) came with a generous serving of fish fillet, smothered with creamy slaw and placed in between two lightly toasted milk bread. The fish was lightly coated and fried to a nice golden brown crispy while the flesh inside maintained moist. With the slaw, it added a crunch texture and just a nice touch of creaminess. A satisfying sandwich overall.
The other sando we tried was the Truffle Egg Mayo Spam Sando ($13.80) - an egg and spam combo well-loved by many. The sando was loaded with a generous portion of egg mayo and had the truffle taste and aromatics. It had a right portion of creaminess that went well with the crisp and fluffiness of the toasted milk bread.
