Definitely not the best but not the worst also. Really weird to have such a well-known establishment here in a neighbourhood area in Woodlands. Hardly any crowd during lunch time. Their lunch set is also really scrumptious and affordable. I'm not done with my #chickenrice posts. XD Happy sunday everyone! :)

It's little known that Loy Kee Chicken Rice has an outlet in Woodlands, and this was actually one of the places I would visit rarely during my Primary School days and occasionally there after. Back then, my mum usually made arrangements with my classmate's mums to fetch me after school as she was working part-time, and she would join them thereafter straight when she knocks off to talk about everything under the sun. They would usually hang out at a now defunct tzechar restaurant near school, but occasionally they would go through the hassle of bringing all of us children up the bus to come to Loy Kee for some chicken rice to switch things up a bit. There wasn't much memory of this place back then but I would always have the Special Set which consist of chicken, rice, vegetables and soup. I would fail to finish because it's just too big in portion for the appetite of a primary school student. Years later in my Secondary School days after years of not patronizing them, I would again hit Loy Kee Chicken Rice again but in a totally different story. It was the last day of our O Level papers and a few good friends and I thought it would be nice to celebrate the end of the exams, whom someone suggested a "delicious Chicken Rice at The Woodgrove". We trekked from our school to Loy Kee without knowing where were we walking by; purely relying on our instincts when suddenly the rain went pouring above our heads with the sun still shining on which got us completely soaked after a near 30mins walk to Loy Kee. We came in to the restaurant dripping wet, and the staff handed out loads of serviettes to us to let us dry ourselves with. When the food came, it was just heart-warming; could not tell whether it was because we were having something warm when we were freezing cold or for it was the memories of childhood coming back, but it was a feeling that I would still remember today as I am having it yet again. #hawkerpedia
Simple but filling soup. Elbow macaroni, and steamed chicken. Its a good breakfast by itself.
