Read from a local blog that this is the no.1 mala xianguo in town.

Felt it is only so-so

The pork belly is sold in chunks, not strips. So it was hard to chew and doesn't give that pork belly oil taste that I love mxg for.

Ingredients are fresh for sure.

Had to try this mala knowing that they stir fry it with all the 真材实料 / authentic ingredients such as the cinnamon stick, bay leaf, clove. The spice was extremely numbing and its tending to the saltier side. At some point, i can't taste anything anymore! I also liked how it was not too oily and was more dry actually (compared to Ri Ri Hong).

Shout out to how they fry the luncheon meat to golden brown perfection

$28.30 for 3 people. (4/5 👍👍👍👍)

Located with the food court on the 5th floor of 313 @ Somerset, you’d be able to find this store tucked away in the corner, next to the Hainanese Chicken Rice store.

Spiciness: 🌶🌶

Items start off at $1.20 / 100g and are labelled according to vegetables, meats, and premium items.

If you fail to mention the level of spiciness, they’d peg it at 中辣 (moderate spiciness). We ordered it at that level just in case it gets unbearable if we dived in for 大辣 (very spicy).

To our surprise, 中辣 wasn’t as spicy as we thought, which make it pretty easy to finish without perspiring bucket loads. Apart from that, I noticed that it wasn’t as oily as the other 麻辣香锅 I’ve had thus far.

First time trying a food court styled Mala & man it was good! This bowl came up to $14.80 which is obviously more expensive than a regular coffeeshop/hawker Mala bowl. Paid $3 for the base and the items are self service, pick and they will weigh it for you accordingly. The bowl was really good, the taste was definitely there & there were cinnamon sticks which constituted part of the base, really giving an oomph factor to the bowl! Can't wait for my next Mala already 🤤 & yes I ate this all by myself 🌚

Pick your meat and vegetables like ‘yong tau-fu’. Weight of your food determines price. $19.40 here. Serves three.

Read somewhere that this was the number 1 MLXG in SG (according to the writer). My colleagues had all tried in on separate occasions to which they all agreed this was indeed the best but when I tried, I felt it was pretty mediocre. I chalked it off to it being one time off and would be coming back for another try⁣⁣, hope it doesn’t disappoint! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
