Mad For Garlic

2049 Wishlisted
~$30/pax
Mad for Garlic is Korea’s first garlic-themed Italian restaurant. The unique concept made its debut in 2001 through Mad for Garlic’s first restaurant in Apgujeong-dong, an affluent entertainment and residential district in southern Seoul. With its unique and innovative menu with garlic-specialized Italian cuisine and an excellent selection of wines, Mad for Garlic soon became one of Korea's most popular restaurant chains. Rather than having a central kitchen system, at Mad for Garlic, the entire cooking process starts with raw materials in the kitchen of each branch to bring fresh food to the table. In 2013, Mad for Garlic was voted by Korea Times and Korea Herald as the Best Performing Italian Restaurant concept in Korea. Currently, there are 40 branches in Korea, two branches in Hong Kong and one in Singapore.

Decided to give Mad for Garlic a try as I love my garlic and there is a one-for-one deal on Burpple Beyond. The Garlic Ragu Fettuccine ($26) features fettuccine with beef steak cubes and fried smashed garlic in a meat sauce topped with whipped cream. The flavours are rich and I love that the fried garlic cloves are soft and mashy on the inside. However, the beef cubes could be a little more tender. Overall, the food is pretty good but the prices are quite steep. Wouldn’t mind returning to use the remaining one-for-one deals:)

Decided to give Mad for Garlic a try as I love my garlic and there is a one-for-one deal on Burpple Beyond. The Triple Garlic Seafood Pasta ($25) is totally up my alley - the al dente spaghetti is stir-fried with mussels, shrimps, baby octopus, squid and garlic sprout in a strong red pepper chilli sauce. It is very fragrant and not too spicy. Overall, the food is pretty good but the prices are quite steep. Wouldn’t mind returning to use the remaining one-for-one deals:)

Super thin & crispy! Love the magical taste of sweet white sauce & fried garlic! So yummy!
🍕
Lobster & Bisque Rose Pasta ($32) is another must try special item for the season! Super love the springy texture of fedelini soaked with the flavorful bisque sauce! Only feedback was that we wish the shell of the yummy garlic butter lobster was more “cracked up” for easy eating 😂
🦞
Grilled Pork Belly Ssam ($27) served in piping hot pan with Korean Ganjang sauce & dough puff. Pork belly was well marinated & tender 😋
🐖
Yuja Ade ($7) was a refreshing quench with refillable soft drink
🍹
Grand finale - Garlic Apple Crumble ($14) with Haagen-dazs vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel syrup 👏

Garlic sizzling fried rice on the hot plate was quite shiok. Triple seafood spaghetti was tasty and not very spicy though it looks like it on the picture. Overall not bad but portion was quite small. Agree this place is probably not for first dates unless you like garlic breath 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thought this was an Italian restaurant but was Korean instead.
Had 1 for 1 Burpple and this was truly a good deal. The ambience was warm and welcoming.
The garlic snowing pizza was really garlicky enough and the meatatarian pizza was a great contrast from garlic. Eaten together one after another wasn’t jelat. 7.0/10

Still my favourite go-to pizza. Never disappoints, same taste everytime. Need to queue awhile on weekends but the food is worth the wait
