Poke bowls are just a delicious mess 💕

You first pick a base (red/brown rice + salad greens went into this), then the protein (I had THREE proteins cause this was a preworkout meal; yuzu soy ahi tuna + spicy salmon + their National Day special chilli crab salmon) and superfood add-ons (pomegranate). The bowl automatically comes topped with cucumber, carrot, corn, pineapple, pumpkin seeds, salmon roe and tomato salsa although you can add extra of these toppings for additional cost. The total cost of this bowl came up to $16.90 ($3 per additional protein and $1 for the superfood topup), which is extremely affordable for a loaded bowl with 225g of fish.

The food was pretty good, the portions more than generous and the sashimi was fresh, sweet and tender. I didn't like the chilli crab so much (my dining partner felt it had an artificial taste to it, and in all probability it had come from a packet or can). The spicy salmon had a nice kick to it that helped bind all the elements of the bowl. It was delightfully filling and helped satiate me through a pretty heavy workout.

I will knock off points for the service though; the two ladies who served us seemed extremely confused and had really bad communication, mixing up my dining partner's and I's orders, scooping the wrong protein (I had initially ordered aburi scallop instead of ahi tuna) and just seemed really disorganized, which was even more disappointing given that we were the first customers there and the CBD lunch crowd hadn't descended yet.

BEST VALUE FOR MONEY POKE EVER in Singapore I swear. I would willingly spend money on this $9.90 bowl that has a mountain of portion as compared to the usual $14.50 bowls under other brands haha!

A poke bowl here costs $9.90 and I added an additional topping of avocado for $1. The original makai salmon was nicely seasoned in shoyu - unlike some places where the fish is unbearably salty. The original mixture of toppings (pumpkin seeds, pineapple cubes, cucumber cubes, carrot strips, etc) provided a good mix of textures and flavours to the poke bowl. Definitely going for this again!

Simple, straight forward Poke. Sometimes we just need a quick pick up from the stall and makai definitely fits the bill. Doesn't hurt when it's reasonably priced too

Fresh ingredients and large portions of salmon! A good take away and healthy meal to go. Flavourful and hearty ingredients like, corn, japanese cucumber, pineapple, tomato salsa, carrots and salmon roe. Tasty and affordable meal, definitely worth the buck! One of the best Poké bowl I’ve tried in the area. Definitely come back for more!

For it's price, it is definitely worth it! For $9.90, you get 75g of salmon, the base (sushi rice/Brown & red rice/trio rice mix/salad base), sides like avocado, Japanese cucumbers, pineapple, cherry tomatoes, carrot and salmon roe. I top up my meal with another portion of salmon so I got roasted sesame ahi tuna & makai original shoyu salmon. The portion is huge, food is quite good!
