This is pretty value if you manage to hit the timings with eatigo 50% off! The Garlic & Ginger Chicken Hor Fun came with multiple large chunks of tender chicken and loved the abundance of ingredients, but definitely lacking the wok hei char though it was still a pretty decent heart bowl of horfun. The Malay Chicken Rendang was very flavourful though we would have preferred it with beef, and the Stir Fried Vegetables were so so and Yellow Rice was not as flavourful as I expected. The true value comes with the appetizer and dessert buffet ✨✨ Appetizer bar comes with a DIY rojak station (unlimited youtiao yummm), breads (really good to dip with the peanut sauce!!!) and cheese with a huge variety of oils, good variety of salad with nuts and bacon bits, gado gado with peanut sauce and some sides (achar etc). Dessert bar was definitely way more extensive with a good variety of pretty decent cakes (chocolate brownie (yum!!!, carrot cake (loved the citrusy oomph), pistachio (meh), strawberry mousse (meh)), cherry pie (this was more meh than it looked), coffee eclairs (yaaas) and a huge ice cream bar (which I’ll be back to try!!!). Drinks include ice lemon tea and infused water, as coffee and tea. They close the bars exactly at 1430 so grab your food quick if you’re going with eatigo 50% at 1400 😂😂

Every Thursday in July, [email protected] at Hotel Jen Orchard Gateway will be having an all-you-can-eat counter of fresh durian and durian desserts in addition to their already extensive seafood themed buffet spread. Some of the cultivars are hard-to-find including Golden Phoenix and Berkeley durians.

Despite being outdoors, if the weather is nice & cool like it was when I was there, it makes for a great experience with friends or family to bond over durians & a good meal. It's very thoughtful of [email protected] to provide gloves for those who don't wish to get their hands dirty as well - I definitely appreciated that.

You have 3 types of durians to choose from: Golden Phoenix, Little Swallow, Berkeley. Just get in line at the booth, & pick your durians & quantity. It will be served to you on a plate; being a buffet, it's free-flow but please don't waste the good stuff!

As a durian lover, the al fresco terrace is where you REALLY want to be. Get in line to all the durian-shucking action here, but PLEASE AH Y'ALL be considerate & don't bring your durians into the main premises where the rest of the buffet is!! 😂

Don't adjourn to the terrace too late, as the durians are while stocks lasts. Photography is obviously also better when it's still light out (buffet starts at 6:30PM)

This July, [email protected] also has a host of durian desserts of good variety. Think durian crepes, durian burbur chacha, durian swiss rolls.

I especially liked the durian crème brûlée, which was silky smooth, not too sweet, had a perfectly sized & caramelised sugar layer on top, & a subtle durian flavour that was just enough for a good dessert.

I also really enjoyed the torched scallops, & went back for seconds. They were bouncy & not rubbery, & the charred cream sauce on top of it was super orgasmic.

Served to me by a friendly chef with a blowtorch, with a smile & well-wishes to enjoy my meal 😁
