Heard so much good thing about this restaurant in PJ. When I found out they do serve salted egg briyani I quickly make a trip to have my dinner there.

The briyani to my surprise is very flavourful, however my serving seem to be a bit wet. It almost like the Chinese style wet salted egg dish that mixed together with rice. Recommended for sharing as it do get a bit "jelak" towards the end.

Nasi lemak is a Malay rice dish made from coconut rice served with a side of boiled egg, anchovies, peanuts, cucumber and sambal, with the occasional fried chicken on the side. Biryani is an Indian rice dish cooked with ghee (clarified butter), nutmeg, cloves, cardamom and an assortment indian spices.

The nasi lemak biryani at Maguldi was served with biryani rice, but had the addition of daun kesum (vietnamese mint), a herb commonly used in Malay cooking. It gave the very indian dish a very Malay touch, which made it quite interesting. The sambal has a good spicy kick to it, with a pronounced sweetness from the onions used. The chicken drumstick served on the side was an indian inspired ayam berempah, a traditional Malay fried chicken but with a more intense flavour. Quite a great nod to the intercultural culinary experience that is Malaysia.

In conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Malgudi came up with their own version of the Nasi Lemak. Biryani rice served alongside the usual NL sides with homemade sambal and fried chicken. Biryani was tasty, loved the sambal but the fried chicken was a bit overdone.

Only served till 16th September!

The best place for your Briyani cravings!

Kulfi is a Indian frozen dairy dessert. The kulfi was extremely sweet and definitely wasn’t suited to my palate.
