Classic Unagi - medium sized at $29.90++, chanced upon this outlet at The Central, Clarke Quay, it was quiet yet with many good food! I actually prefer this outlet than the one at Bugis (food tastes better) and the one at Keong Saik (forever long queue), will patron this store again when I have craving for man man!

Rejoice! You no longer have to wait at least an hour in line at Man Man's flagship outlet at Keong Saik Road because they have opened an outlet at The Central at Clarke Quay.

The new outlet is alot more spacious and comfortable. I actually thought the unagi here tasted better because it did not turn out dry and burnt which was what happened when I last had it at the Keong Saik Road outlet.

I personally like having it with the subtly sweet and savory dashi broth which gives the dish a much more complex yet well rounded flavour.

Instructions were given at the table to eat the hitsumabushi in 4 ways - on its own, with pickles and seaweed, with sweet broth, and the crispy flakes (age damakohaku). The grilled eel is tasty and I enjoyed eating it with the sweet broth. It’s expensive though so won’t eat it so often.

🍱 Hitsumabushi ($29.50++): Glazed with tare (sweetened soy-based sauce) and caramelised over charcoal fire, the Japanese freshwater eel served here is reeeally fresh and sweet.
It’s lightly crisp (& enveloped with a wonderful smoky flavour) on the outside, but oh-so-succulent and tender on the inside — it just melts in your mouth. They absolutely nailed the texture. 👍🏼
[Bonus: I LOVE the freshly-grated wasabi 💯💯 A little pinch of it really helped to enhance the taste of the unagi, whilst giving you that extra kick!]

Medium Unagi Donburi ($28.40++)

My mum and I love unagi so we’ve been wanting to try Man Man. Chose to visit the Clarke Quay (The Central) outlet as I heard that there’s not as much crowd there - and it’s true!

Tried the medium unagi donburi, which comes with unagi don, soup, appetizer (spinach), pickles. Very filling!

The unagi don was really delicious - I love that the unagi was slightly charred and crispy and very flavourful! The fish was chewy with just the right amount of fat. 😋 The Japanese rice was, as usual, exceptional hehe. I always try to avoid eating too much carbs but I can never resist Japanese rice.

The soup was actually really good too! Had not much expectations because it looks quite simple, but there were bits of yuzu peels in the soup which made the soup super refreshing! And I’m a huge fan of yuzu 🤩

The appetizer and pickles were nothing to shout about, but was a nice touch as it balances out the sweetness of the unagi.

A rather pricey meal, but nice to have it once in a while. It does remind me of the unagi dons I had in Japan :’)

Who knew that unagi could be this soft, flavorful and delicious! Man man has outdone themselves in terms of making something so good!!
I never knew that unagi melts in your mouth when grilled rightly.. I loved it!

The queue was horrible though, we waited for 45 minutes before our group was given a table..
