Who knew that unagi could be this soft, flavorful and delicious! Man man has outdone themselves in terms of making something so good!!
I never knew that unagi melts in your mouth when grilled rightly.. I loved it!

The queue was horrible though, we waited for 45 minutes before our group was given a table..

We had the hitsumabushi set, I ordered medium while WB ordered large as the medium portion was not filling for him when we had it at the Keong Siak outlet. The quality of Man Man unagi is better than Una Una and we preferred the fresh grated wasabi.

First time at Man Man. Service was quick, not intrusive. Most of what you need is on the table. Extra sauces, wet towels etc. They provide 2 sauces, normal.and spicy. Both sauces are rather thick and it's a nice feeling when you can drizzle as much as you want over your food.

Unagi is freshly grilled, not as fatty as others I've had. The rice is of a standard that you expect. Each grain is distinct and the rice has a nice mouth feel when you eat. They provide fresh wasabi root and a grater for you. It's a nice touch, if you consider the cost of 1 root of wasabi. The wasabi is fresh and complements the rice nicely. It's not the pungent / spicy taste that you get from eating the usual sushi wasabi. The wasabi also helps to clean the palate so that u dont get sick of eating the rice with the sauce.

The other condiments are okay, nothing outstanding.

The signature eel maintains its usual stickily sweet qualities, but the hitsumabushi experience - mixing in condiments and pouring in broth to the mix - feels rather peculiar when applied in a raw, chopped up sashimi context, like sipping on lukewarm vodka or devouring icy char kway teow. 3.7/5

Had this pretty good Kaisen X Hitsumabushi don from the new Man Man Unagi restaurant in Clarke Quay Central. At $32.50, it doesn't come cheap, but, quantity of the food justifies the price.

Although I was quite disheartened to see that the Unagi was frozen, they did prepare it well, and it was crisp on the outside and moist and tender inside. They have both the original and spicy unagi sauce (I went for spicy, although the original is sweeter). I did expect the unagi to be fresh though :(, and see it cut live - was really quite a bummer.

As for the sashimi, it was of a nice, fresh, and had a good mix but unfortunately, was rather tasteless. They could've done a better job with the marinade. The combo of Kaisendon and Hitsumabushi is rather unusual I must say, but it (kind of) works I guess?

Overall, the food could've been better in terms of quality, their quantity hits the right spot. It's still extremely satisfying to eat here though, a good meal! Come to Man Man to fulfil your unagi cravings!
