We decided to give this a try since we’re innard fans, but this was a little too funky even for us. The seafood flavour off the liver is quite intense, though adding the sweet sauce and wasabi does help. Only order if you can handle it!

Finally popped my Man Man cherry! Added on an onsen egg for $1.50 and I can see why they’re so popular. The unagi is the best I’ve had in SG; tender, thick and with a nice crisp on the top. Loved having it the ochazuke style by pouring in the dashi stock provided. It ain’t cheap, but if I’ve got an unagi craving again, I know where I’m headed!

Medium size unagi rice, fresh fish, good flavour outside of Japan.

Roast beef with unagi hitsumabushi ($29.50 for medium $39.50 for large). Roast beef is served medium rare and cold(as informed by the waiter). It was tasty, tender and tasted of black pepper which went well with the sweet unagi sauce. The unagi which is the main star of the shop was also equally excellent. The outer layer was crispy while the inside was soft and it was well flavoured. The soup provided was good, well seasoned and went well with the rice to give you a hearty porridge. However I still preferred my dish the way it was, with the soup separated.

With everything being so delicious, the broiled unagi which my friend ordered was really disappointing. It was bland and did not have much texture besides the softness of the meat and the countless soft bones in the meat. It was also chewier than the grilled unagi.

Overall just stick to the usual grilled unagi, try the roast beef and avoid the broiled unagi and you'll leave satisfied! Also they served green tea FOC!

A very exclusive hitsumabushi at Duo Gallery Branch with 2 unagi cooked in different way which is Tokutoku shirayaki (seasoned with salt) and tokutoku kabayaki (seasoned with unagi sauce). Tbh, it was already magnificently taste even without the wasabi to spice up the bowl. Beside, the chef do put in certain effort to remove tiny bones of the eel.

Holy smokes the best unagi I’ve ever had!! So soft and flavourful w a grilled slightly crispy exterior. Loved the dashi stock too, when u mix it w a small amt of rice in a separate bowl . Perfect amount for me n despite its steep price point, gotta say its worth a try :’)
