So excited to discover they are available for delivery. Lunch and dinner sorted!

Check out my Hokkaido Ikura Hitsumabushi. It comes with the condiments, freshly grated wasabi paste and dashi soup.

The key highlight for me is the juicy salmon roe that pops as I bite! I really like their freshly grated wasabi paste which made my rice mix taste so good!

Apparently, this dish is only at their Keong Saik outlet. Islandwide delivery is available on @grabfoodsg.

Broke the bank but also sealed its place in my heart as the best Unagi restaurant yet. Got the Unatama don (~$22++) which came with 3 meagre but decadent chunks of unagi. Unagi was a bomb of textures and flavours: Crisp and tender; Sweet and savoury. Japanese grain was authentic and tamago had great texture and was not too sweet. Portion was objectively a bit small but just right for someone who just had dessert. Would definitely come here again, but only on the rare self-care days.

While I have heard some people find the unagi here having a muddy taste, I actually didnโ€™t detect that but felt that the smokiness from the chargrilled unagi was perfectly on point. Famously known for the 3 different ways of eating; original, drizzle over some sauces (sweet, unagi and spicy sauces) and pair with self-grated wasabi (which was really fun), nori and lastly, scoop some into the bowl provided, pouring over some dashi stock and sprinkling some spring onion over like an unagi porridge.

Personally I preferred to have it original as that allowed me to taste the different elements of the unagi; the crispy skin with moist eel meat underneath, smoky aroma, and its freshness. Gentle reminder that there are soft edible bones, although I chose to still swallow them. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Surprisingly I find that the sweet sauce was more savory than the unagi sauce which was more sweet teriyaki-like. You can also sprinkle some chili powder to heat things up. Thereโ€™s also miso soup served on the side. The Dashi stock was comparatively lighter but umami-filled.

Seats were readily available at 12pm on Saturday when we went, but of course if you would like to sit by the counter to watch them handle the unagis, itโ€™d probably be a longer wait.

Finally understood the hype about this unagi don. Well marinated, charred to perfection and tender unagi. Canโ€™t wait to head back again!

Iโ€™m always suckered into sets that allows me to have complete nutrition with vege and dessert(haha). The rice and eel is a smaller option but Iโ€™m not complaining. Though for the dessert... itโ€™s not the greatest ๐Ÿ˜… the mochi was too hard.

Lucky for us who manage to queue and get to eat before 7+ after an hour queue. Though we had tried quite a few unagi restaurant in japan, we still think that ManMan in SG has the best crispy and flavourful unagi. Never fail to reward us with it especially when special ocassions
