Located in the same compound, skip the michelin-starred Hawker Chan's absurd queue for this super value $7 half chicken. The tender meat with silky skin well glazed in the aromatic and flavoursome sauce makes it as good as any chicken.

The generous portion of meat was tender, and the sauce is a perfect balance of salty and sweet with herbal undertones. Some parts of the chicken are a bit dry (breast meat) but that’s a minor point. The star of this hawker stall is definitely the #braisedtofu that’s silky smooth while remaining firm, and has soaked up the sweet sauce to make it highly delicious

My go-to for soy sauce chicken in Chinatown; silky smooth and oh-so-tender. Even the breast meat is ridiculously soft and moist, you wonder how they achieve these results without fancy gadgets. Other than the chicken, be sure to grab some of their braised homemade tofu! It’s amazingly smooth and a perfect vehicle for their light, savoury braising liquid. Aunty will often joke, “Maria Virgin’s tofu is the best!” 🙃

This stall has a weird name of Maria Virgin Chicken, but the true delicious stuff was the silky braised tofu.
Apparently, according to an auntie whom I spoke to at Chinatown Food Centre, this is the “sifu” (teacher) of the Michelin starred stall.
Let me know if there are other worthy HK Soya Chicken around #Sghawker

The meat, which was cooked to the right temperature with the bone hollows still pink, was really tender and springy. Even the breast meat was so juicy!

4 munchies: Simmered and steeped until tender and succulent, the chicken is then coated with a layer of honey to give the bouncy skin some shine and sweetness. Having absorbed all that aromatic soy sauce dressing with a hit of herbal fragrance, every part of the chicken – breasts included – was so juicy and packed full of savoury flavour!

What really amazed us was the excellent braised beancurd featured in the background. Braised using the same sauce for the chicken, the texture of the tofu was ultra smooth yet firm! #Burpproved #BurppleBestofChinatown
