Tamago Ramen ($14.50)
.
Signature ramen @marutamaramen.sg is still as good as ever. I prefer the original to the spicy soup base and the seaweed topping is very different from other ramen place as they don’t just slide in a sheet of seaweed. Char siew is also tender and tamago has a slightly oozy center. The soup is so good I always finish every drop.

The ramen is served with thin noodles and chicken soup base. Tasted a bit like meekia in koka soup base. Their egg is also a tad too salty.

Wasn’t feeling particularly hungry so I had some snacks instead of the famed ramen. The char siew was surprisingly tasty, with the meat being so tender and cholesterol-inducing-fatty, you can’t stop at just a piece! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

It’s one of those sleepless nights when your stomach is growling and you could do with a bowl of Zenbu Nose Ramen ($19) from Marutama right now😚 Throwback to an indulgent bowl of springy noodles, melt-in-your-mouth charsiu, tender stewed pork belly, flavoured egg and a generous amount of spring onion and Aosa seaweed in a rich and flavourful broth - I think I need another ramen fix this week:P

I was craving for a salad but given it was a gloomy and rainy day yesterday, something soupy would be nice. Hence, this was the compromise. I didn’t miss the meat at all and truly enjoyed this bowl of ramen which had been generously filled to the brim with cabbage, carrots and wood ear mushroom.

Unexpectedly, Marutama Ramen sells the closest tasting ramen to the ones I’ve had in Japan! 🤗

Decided to try their signature ramen, which came with three slices of cha shu, pork belly, ajitama egg and plenty of spring onions and greens! Aside from being tender, the fats of the pork belly literally melted in my mouth, which was extremely heavenly experience. 😍 Another thing I would like to commend would be the Ajitama Egg, which was done perfectly! The pork cha shu was tender, which I tend to prefer, but this made picking them up with my chopsticks difficult as I felt the slices fell apart way too much for me. 😅 Still really delicious though!

Also got their gyoza 🥟, which I found was better than average, but not the best. To our delight, they actually served the gyoza with chilli along with the usual sauce, which we found was rather unique! One thing I noticed, however, was that their food does tend to be oilier, as seen by the layer of oil floating above the broth and the oil which collected on the gyoza plate 🙊 Still worth it though!
