So we arrived at the shop at around 10.30am and they were...... CLOSED or so the sign hanging on the door showed. Just a small error on their part.

Anyway I ordered the Messy Truffle Burger ($16)- beef, truffle sauce, cheese, fries. Beef was cooked slightly under and the truffle sauce tasted quite prominent on it own. However, when eaten together, the truffle taste was negligible. A friend of mine said it tasted like Mcdonald's cheese burger. A slightly better version of it.

Pulled Pork Burger ($10)- relish mayo, onions, smoked cheddar, fries. Had a prominent porky taste in a good way. Burger tasted good when eaten together. Separately the pork lacked seasoning, same with my beef patty.

Truffle Pasta ($14)- shimeji, shiitake, truffle cream, pecorino. Taste of truffle was present but not strong and somehow the sauce kinda lack salt in our opinion. Pasta was well cook though.

Overall a nice place to hang out during the hot sunny weather as it is air conditioned. There's also free flavoured water available which you can help yourself.

There’s a certain home-style feel to their food, like it’s cooked by your friend’s mum that avoids too much salt. πŸ˜‚ This was cooked a little too soft too but they were quite generous with the shredded crab and prawns.

In a pretty unassuming location, the residents of Pek Kio now have a cozy getaway with pretty decent food! Expect pastas, burgers, pizzas and a few more local specials (it was laksa when we went) from this joint.

The cheeseburger was nubbad, was a juicy patty (though juicer in some spots) and soft onions. The slaw was a nice touch though the fries could do with a little more life.

From MASH at Pek Kio, which is by the folks behind now-defunct GRIT at Pek Kio previously located at Pek Kio Market and Food Centre; MASH at Pek Kio had not moved far, with its new location situated just right opposite where GRIT at Pek Kio was at Blk 44 Owen Road.

Had been enjoying different variants of Carbonara lately, and this was yet another version that shone. Featuring elements such as Iberian Pork Jowl, Bacon, Pecorino and Truffle Oil, the Carbonara here is well-executed without being jelak. Despite the use of truffle oil, the truffle oil is not the dominant factor of the Carbonara here, which focuses on the creaminess and slight cheesiness with the al-dente linguine that carries a good bite. Really liked how they had included the Iberian Pork Jowl and Bacon here; the former helping to add a bit of chew with its chunkiness that was juicy and tender, while the latter being crisp β€” both adding a savoury note to the Carbonara to create that classic flavour. Overall, a pretty satisfying version that we would certainly go for again!
