Used the entertainer 1 for 1 for this. Super worth it and super nice. Their fish and chips is so so only

6.90 for the perfect post lunch treat when it's a rough week ahead. Love the mixed hokkaido milk n matcha combo as I find the matcha too heavy for me in a full portion, instead the hokkaido milk gives it a nice balance of sweet n bitter. Hokkaido milk on its own is not bad too but its just better together with the matcha.

We were pleasantly surprised with Matchaya for 2 reasons:
1. They actually serve meals now
2. The dishes are pretty good!

We got the breakfast set ($17.90) and the beef shortrib rice ($16.90). Both were decent for the price (but if you have the Entertainer, it is 1 for 1!). For the beef shortrib rice, the stew was yummy (could taste tomatoes and carrots in there), and the garlic chips added a nice texture to the beef. Beef could be a little more tender though. But otherwise, pretty decent.

For the breakfast set, the scrambled eggs were creamy and what's unique is that i tasted some tea leaves in the furikake topping? Mushrooms were fantastic and the bread was good too.

The koicha was really pronounced, with the milk adding a tinge of sweetness to the strong matcha taste. Recommended for those who love a strong matcha flavour.

As for the houjicha, it was an interesting mix of coffee and tea. However, the houjicha overpowered the coffee.

The open concept is really cool too, where the staff makes the drinks in front of you!

Really stoked to find out that Matchaya is now serving up Choux pastries with a variety of flavours available. I like my cream puffs simple; just custard cream especially for the first go unless certain special flavours catch my attention.

The Choux pastry at Matchaya is done pretty well; the pastry holding up pretty well when sliced apart — light and firm with a crisp crust on the exterior for a good texture. Inside, the pastry is generously filled with custard that oozes out eagerly with every squeeze from the knife — somewhat more of a milk custard here considering how it's less eggy in flavour and not too sweet; just a rich, luscious and creamy milk custard that is all smooth and velvety. While 52 Sandwich Shack's Shuu lineup is still one of my favourites (a little sad to see them go off pretty soon), Matchaya's rendition holds up pretty well to those standards — something which I would definitely be having over and over again, like all the good Choux puffs that I love.
