Flavourful broth, very gingerly.

Fish were fresh, a mixture of sliced fish and fried fish.

The chilli was shiok as well.

Only avaliable in $6 Portion.

Although on paper, opening hours is 11.30am to 2pm. But by 12.40pm on a weekday, sold out liao. And about over 5 person had to be turned away.

Most people queued for popular stall for fish soup ($6) and I really felt that the white fish is fresh and really got that no bad smell. Black fish is also freshly fried but they seemed not much fish meats inside for this and mostly like fish bones part. The soup broth mixed with ginger powder and hence the soup don't have much fish smell also. But one pricing - $6 w rice if takeaway fee applies.

Serving for about 2 decades, the success of this stall, with perpetual long queues that form even before they open for the day, has resulted in a streamlining of their menu offerings and opening times.

These days, there is only 1 option on the menu (a mixed fish soup and rice set) with a few minor customisations (add-ons). Ordering is simply a matter of stating how many sets you want, dine-in or takeaway - great process efficiency for the kitchen.

The appeal lies in their secret broth, a delectable and robust stock, cloudy with hours of simmered fish bones and herbs. Full-bodied and warm, delicious savoury sweet salty flavours, excellent on cold rainy days.

The fresh mackerel fish, both natural and fried, are nicely deboned, small but tender flaky in texture, with meaty sweet savoury flavour.

There's crisp cabbage with vegetal sweet notes, and fluffy white rice with grainy sweet flavour to complete.

The intensity of non-stop serving has led them to open just 2.5 hours every weekday, usually selling out before that.

Only one version and only one size to be chosen so try not to check for customisation to avoid incurring the wrath of the lady as I have witnessed.

A hearty bowl of fish soup which consists both sliced fish and deep fried fish.
Although I enjoyed having two types of fish in a bowl, it was way too salty.
Both the soup as well as the deep fried fish were super salty to me.

A bowl of fish soup with white rice costs $6.
They do charge for takeaway containers and covers of the takeaway containers.

Portion is decent and filling.

With the rainy weather these few days, I do crave warm bowl of fish soup. I chanced upon this stall on my trip to Berseh Food Centre, and was delightedly surprised to see a long line at this hidden stall. The fish soup here only comes with both fried and fresh fish slices, and 2 sizes ($6 and $8). The $6 portion I ordered was already bursting with fish slices and they were all so fresh! The fresh slices were so thick, flaky and succulent 🥺 the fried slices are actually parts with bones, and they provide so much flavour to the soup. The soup itself is so robust and flavourful, and has a tinge of ginger, hence the colour. Paired with their garlic chilli, I dare say this is one of the best fish soup I've had so far.

Spot the long queue on Level 2 of Berseh Food Centre to find Mei Xiang. Here, there's only Mixed Sliced Fish Soup ($6 for Small, $8 for Big) — no other choices. You'll get sliced fish, slightly salty fried fish chunks (beware of bones), a robust soup loaded with cabbage, a zesty chili that is totally addictive ($0.30 for extra) and a bowl of white rice. Pro-tip: if you want to dabao, please bring your own container!
