Unusual formula - it comprises dried chilli, capsicum, button mushrooms, spring onion, prawns, chicken and carrot. Whole thing is sour-spicy, which I guess is how you stand out.

A quieter outlet of the Mellben Group at Opal Crescent, a good choice if you are craving for some crab bee hoon soup at the last minute without wanting to queue! We had both the bee hoon soup and golden sands crab but I would recommend having the crab bee hoon when you're here as its their specialty! The soup is definitely one of the richest and creamiest that I've had. Also, I noticed that the crab in the soup is much sweeter than the golden sands one — they probably used the better crabs for the bee hoon to give more flavor to the soup!

The result of no one respecting the guy who is tasked to record photomemory of the dinner, I can only manage to capture... a scoop of noodle in my bowl.

Another classic Cze Char all time favourite. Sotong (squid) paste on dough fritter, baked not fried, drizzled with homemade mayonnaise. Melben's version has carrot/veg introduced in the squid paste, the delicate squares of dough fritter which makes it looks amazing. Best taste even better than looks!

It's wow wow wow, kung pow with a slight Tom Yum twist! Couldn't resist my curiousity in ordering this. Sphagetti is used in this fusion cze char dish which the blanching and stir-fry must be timed well so the pasta remains al dente in every bite. Throw in the fried chicken chunks, shrimps, dried chili and the special sauce. For $6 you get not a small portion. Will certainly be back for this, even if I have to give the crabs a miss

Am I paying to eat plain steamed crab? This dish came quite disappointing. It’s basically thick bee hoon and laksa gravy with an additional crab on it. I guess they didn’t cook the crab together with the gravy and hence the crab came plain with no traces of laksa taste on the flesh. The noodles were quite good, soaking up in the rich and spicy coconut milk gravy.

This branch seems exceptionally quiet compared the the one at AMK. I had their crab bee hoon at AMK branch and it’s really good and tasty. I shall only visit their AMK outlet if i’m craving for a good claypot crab bee hoon.
