Tucked away at Circular Road near Boat Quay, @sanji_boatquay is a Kagoshima style ramen house which recently launched both Tom Yam Ramen & Tom Yam Tsukemen on its menu. Note that there are only 10 bowls available daily 🀭, so better head down early if you want to taste that spicy tingling sensation in your ramen/tsukemen!

If you love ramen but just can’t handle the heat πŸ₯΅, check out either their Special Rich Tonkotsu or their Special Sanji Ramen. And to complete your meal, go for their crispy handmade Sanji Gyoza πŸ‘!

Sanji gyoza ($6++ for 5 pieces)

The meat filling was moist but could be firmer. Meat was seasoned well and tastes good with the vinegar. The exterior can be crisper and thinner.

Tomyam ramen ($15.90++)

Special item, limited to 10 bowls a day. Heard from the waiter that it's not that popular though, as most customers visit for their regular flavours.

I really liked it! More so than the normal ramen. Soup base was creamy and sourish so it doesn't get jerlat. The ingredients go well together but the bamboo shoots can be sliced thinner as it's quite a mouthful to chew. It gets slightly salty towards the end.

Special sanji ramen ($15++)

Very big bowl for the price. So much ingredients- especially love the roasted pork belly!! Has the smokiness and slight char.

Black fungus and bean sprouts were crispy and went well with the noodles. Personally not a fan of shallots but those who love it will enjoy them in this bowl. Onsen egg was well seasoned and yummy. The bamboo shoots are really chunky which makes it hard to chew.. will be better if sliced thinner.

The tonkotsu soup base has quite a heavy tone of garlic so only for those who loves garlic!

RAmen for you? 🍜 A new addition to the menu at Menya Sanji Boat Quay is Tomyam Ramen ($15.90++), an exclusive rendition with only 10 portions available a day! 😍😍😍

The ramen broth is certainly the star of the show! πŸ’― Unlike the clear & light tomyam soup 🌢 that we are more familiar with, the rich coconut milk & the tomyum flavours weaved in together harmoniously to make this a very thick & creamy broth. 😍😍😍To me, it was almost like a marriage between tomyam & laksa! πŸ‘πŸ» Definitely reminiscent of the Land of Smiles πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡­ & lent flavours to the thick springy ramen! βœ”

The thin but massive slices of lean pork shoulder πŸ– were tender, & the perfectly-executed ajitama (ramen egg) 🍳 was extremely delightful! Accompanied with prawns 🦐, bamboo shoots & some greens πŸ₯¬, this made a flavour-bomb bowl which is perfect for the rainy weather these days! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Spicy, sour, sweet & creamy, the addictive broth will get you slurping down the entire bowl! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

If you’d like to stick to the classics, go for their Special Sanji Ramen ($15++), which features ramen with generous slices of roast pork belly & charsiu πŸ’•, 2 half-boiled egg with soy sauce, crunchy black fungus & bean sprouts, menma (bamboo shoot), seaweed slices, lavished with aromatic fried onion & spring onion in their iconic tonkotsu base which was rich & creamy. 🀀🀀🀀

The special sanji ramen comes essentially with all the works; roasted pork belly, roasted pork shoulder, menma, spring onions, black fungus and a perfectly flavoured ramen egg.

I’m not a fan of super rich/thick tonkotsu broths, so this was perfect for me, leaning towards the thinner side and wasn’t too salty. However, if you like your ramen broths rich, then I would suggest going for the rich tonkotsu instead.
