The soup broth is sweet and light. I’d prefer more Unami crustacean tasting broth. How it gets its Michelin puzzles me. It’s good... but abit far off from the Michelin expectation. But hey $5 for 2 big prawn and 3 huge pork ribs already made this dish worthy

The dry one is better than the soup one. Not sure if it’s because of CB. The prawns tasted like overnight prawns and the ribs are abit tough. That’s a lot of ribs ( 3 to be exact, 1 eaten) for a $5 bowl of prawn noodles

Prawn pork ribs noodles dry ($5)

3 pieces of pork ribs and 2 prawns. Prawns were rather fresh. Substantial amount of ingredient with the noodles which is very filling. I liked the chilli though can be saltier (just add abit of light soy sauce and it's perfect).

Will order again!

Thank God for queueing Singaporeans! Following the crowd, I discovered this great prawn noodle stall at Tiong Bahru.

Their secret is in that fragrant chili, which was easily coated on their unbelievably springy noodle-beehoon mix, for slurp after slurp of pleasurable umami. Alas, the accompanying bowl of prawn broth was, while still good, lightweight in flavour.

At the corner of the most popular area in Tiong Bahru Market & Food Centre where the queues for the fatty char siew wanton mee and the vegetarian bee hoon stalls are is the prawn mee stall which commands a short queue. The noodles are good with fresh medium sized prawns and tender pork ribs. I love the fact that the mee is well cooked and not sticking together. The chilli sauce is deliciously spicy. It has a good lot of greens and bean sprouts making the dish crunchy. Overall it’s a burping good meal.

When it comes to prawn mee, broth is definitive of quality. This broth was lightweight and sapid, with a distinct pork flavour. What’s lacking, however, is the thick crustacean flavour quintessential of the dish. Ideal if you’re seeking healthier options, but not wholly satisfying.

FYI: If limelight is testament to quality for you, this prawn mee won the first edition of Channel 8’s 《抢摊大行动》(Buzzing Cashier) – after many gruelling rounds of taste tests.
