With the most unique variety of gelato I’ve ever seen, Monarchs & Milkweed Gelato’s chilled desserts lean toward the more mild flavours that aren’t overly sweetened.

The Brown Butter Sage was very earthy and creamy, while the Lavender was distinctly floral. My companion said she avoids Lavender anything as it usually tastes very “soapy” 😂 I, on the other hand, absolutely love anything Lavender! I thought it was one of the better tasting Lavender foods I’ve tried.

Give this gelato store a try if you love gelato or just want something out of the ordinary, you definitely won’t go wrong here! If I’m ever in Bugis again, I’ll definitely make a stop here 🥰

This was my to-go flavour here because I find the rest of their flavours to be quite subtle and mild (fans of BoP may like M&M). It used to taste like salted butter + gula melaka but now it tasted like caramel ice cream instead. I asked if they had changed the recipe (they did! 🤬)

The best thing about M&M was their cone because it’s crunchy, buttery and savoury. However, I also thought it tasted less savoury (less yummy to me) than before?! Anyway, this was still better than the cone from BoP.

we had the: lavender, brown butter sage & ispahan flavours, all refreshing enough for a hot Sunday afternoon 🕊

the 𝐋𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 was delicately flavored with a whiff of lavender that became more pronounced as it melted in your mouth! as someone who loves the lavender scent in general, I loved it!

𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐞 was definitely interesting, I’ve had it in cookie form but not ice cream before. tasted oddly like cookie butter, but definitely pleasing to the tastebuds.

& last but not least, 𝐈𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧 was one of our favourites as well! it was delightfully sweet yet light and we can see why it’s one of their bestselling flavours!

verdict: 8/10! would definitely return again to try other flavours!

I felt that I didn't really used to eat strong saltier taste for Sea Salt Gula Jawa ($4) but got mild caramel aftertaste 😅 so I found its was quite milky and creamy for flavour. But I like Chocolate Gelato ($4) so much as its not milky and creamy as its strong bitter flavour. (suitable for dairy tolerant 👌)

My newly found favourite ice cream place ! Absolutely love their burnt white chocolate and Ispahan! Brown Butter Sage was a miss for me, can’t wait to try other flavours ! For a person who don’t like cones, I always get their cone as it is so buttery and I really like the flavour! The only place I will ever ask for a cone !

🍴Relatively new entrant into the highly concentrated #icecream scene. They had smooth and good texture and a wide range of interesting flavors. Unfortunately, tasting was not available so we went with the recommended best sellers of burnt white chocolate and isaphan. Both were lacking oomph and were pretty forgettable, being creamy and light in flavour without much depth or lingering taste. The white chocolate was quite creamy although we did like the addition of what we think is cocoa nibs. For the #isaphan, we liked that the rose was more subtle, not overpowering and artificial. But we would have liked for a stronger raspberry flavour beyond what came from the frozen raspberry bits that were a tad icy. Overall, it’s worth a try with the current 1-1 on #entertainersg and a spacious aesthetic cafe to hang with friends but not sure if this new entrant can survive this industry with stronger competitors like BOP and the likes.
