NEW restaurant Monkey Warung @monkeywarung at Capitol Piazza @capitolpiazza serves up inexpensive Pork Ribs (half rack for $20). Also look out for other modern Indonesian style dishes such as Ayam Penyet with recipes from Bali.

Probably because i like capitol plazza's ambiance that makes this place somewhat really comfy😅. Had the Quarter ribs with fried rice ($15) with additiomal egg ($2). Ribs were tender, fried rice was so good. 4.5/5

The pork ribs tasted tender with a nice sweet and hint of smokiness together with the collagen that melted and turned into soft gelatin. The ayam panggang was tender and smooth with a slightly sweet flavour. Squid bakar tasted tender with minimum bite, not those rubbery squids that you and I hate. Nasi goreng was cooked well, such that the grains were separated giving a rich and complex flavor. Not a fan of bakwan jagung corn fritters as it was too oily and lack of the corn sweetness. Preferably sweet and not too ripe goreng pisang so this is not my choice. It might be a little challenge to locate Monkey Warung as the logo is not obvious. It is located in Capitol Piazza close to 1933 By Toast Box.

After trying most of the ho-hum set lunch items we ordered (ayam penyet, grilled chicken, burger with the dangerously thick patty — which initially came rare then came back to us microwaved to death 😭), I had very low expectations for the final item.

Much to my surprise, the little slab we got was wonderfully tender (with melty cartilage ❤️). The sweet and savoury glaze was nice, though I was imagining how a brush of Naughty Nuri's mildly spicy sauce would have been nice.

Perhaps some were just teething issues of a new place, but I doubt I'll come back considering the many better (and cheaper) options nearby.
If you do come, swing by during lunch to get more bang for your buck with the set meals, and stick to the foolproof ribs.

Love eating the Balinese pork ribs with Nasi Goreng and a refreshing bowl of Soto ayam soup.
