Braised Pork Rice ($9.00) was filled a lot of ingredients such as Braised Egg, sliced sausage, braised minced pork and some picked vegtables. I thought its small serving due to the bowl at first glance but I realised its not that small while eating. Braised Minced Pork have marinated well with braised sauce and quite strong and a bit salty taste inside it. I will be coming for green tea (Matcha) dessert 🙆‍♀️ but it's not soon 😅

Returned back to Monki Cafe after my first trip a couple of years ago to try out their mains. Couldn't give the Taiwan Chiayi Chicken Rice a miss considering how much I like Eat 3 Bowl's rendition of the Taiwanese-style Chicken Rice. Thought the version here was palatable though certainly not the best I have had; while there was a decent portion of shredded chicken topped over the fluffy rice beneath, the chicken would have been even better being more moist — still provided a decent meatiness and savouriness nonetheless. Coming with preserved vegetables, it provides a slight tang for some contrast in flavour, while the Braised Egg comes drenched with the same sauce that comes with the Braised Minced Meat Rice for an enhanced note of savouriness with some bits of minced meat to chew on. A pretty decent place to get those Taiwanese cuisine cravings sorted out especially for the Westies; all in a pretty chill, cute and laid-back environment that's great for catching up with friends or dates.

This place also introduced a series of Taiwanese cuisine on top of their signature dessert items.

The braised pork was delicious and melt whenever you bite on it. The portion consider small for me, perhaps giving more room for some dessert here.

My favourite watermelon shaved ice, Hong Zhao chicken leg vermicilli soup is nice, i even finish the soup, next time i will try their lu rou fan.. Btw, their scallion pancake is much nicer than Jay Chou’s Liang pancake, i’m just stating my opinion here.. 🌯

We decided to drop by this cute cafe that was opened recently in the holland drive neighbourhood. We had just finished our dinner and wanted some desserts after that.

We ordered the shaved ice with mixed fruits (for sharing). The taste was nice and not too sweet. The fruits used were fresh too.

Environment was very pleasant and cosy with a team of courteous staff.

Would definitely return for other items in their menu.

Thumbs up!

Passed by Monki, a new cafe that we had chanced upon while walking around the neighbourhood at Holland Drive near Buona Vista MRT Station which serves up Shaved Ice, Smoothies, Cakes (available in the display fridge), Hot Food (mostly a small selection of local fare) and Sorbets.

Wasn't expecting much but the Watermelon Shaved Ice was indeed a refreshing treat — comes with fresh milk on the side but the shaved ice was already good on its own; almost akin to a freshly-pressed Watermelon juice without being too sweet. The chunks of cut fruit were more like watermelon juice frozen as cubes; thought that using real watermelon would create more impact especially with the textures from the fibers of the fruit. Overall, a light and refreshing dessert on its own.
