Mooks Thai Bistro has 2 outlets - I dined at the Bukit Gombak one.

The minced meat was too salty, but the rest of our dishes were pretty good. Comfortable ambience, family-friendly place, good price point, & with ample parking.

This is Mook's lunch set at only $9.90. Choice of starter (I chose chicken wings), main (mine's tom yum fried rice) and drink (i topped up $2 for Thai ice milk tea). SAFRA members get additional $2 off!

Admittedly, the fried rice needed much more fire from the wok. There was still lots of oil coatings on the rice which could have benefited from a higher wok temperature. Lemon grass, ginger and lime were all distinctively present so they passed on the tom yum front.

At $7.90++ per set for SAFRA members, this budget friendly lunch is a great alternative to coffee shop food if you want to avoid the heat.

Their pad kra pao gai (Thai Basil Chicken) is really good, punchy and fragrant with just the right amount of spicy kick. Also worth trying is the mango sticky rice. They serve the glutinous rice warm with a drizzle of coconut milk, and the cubes of mango are always delightfully sweet, never sour. 8/10!
