This was pretty decent, but oops my dad makes a better lorbak. Meat wasn’t dry, had a good ratio of lean to fat, sauce is not bad, but my dad’s lorbak is somehow more fragrant/tasty. My dining partner who has tried my dad’s lorbak agreed too 😂

Black fungus was crunchy! But what I liked most was the RICE haha it was so good?? Separate individual grains, cooked just enough such that it won’t clump and a perfect pairing for the sauce.

A comforting bowl of lor bak rice that comes with chunky pieces of tender pork belly, braised egg and black fungus 》$4

It has a good ratio of meat to fats. Meat is tender, fats just melts in the mouth and black fungus was added to give a different texture and crunch to break away from the richness of the pork belly.

A comforting bowl of braised pork rice. Braised pork is braised for 14 hours, that explains how tender and tasty is the meat.

The pork was well braised and it’s tender enough to melts in your mouth. The sauce is not too oily and sweet, but there’s a particular spice (which I suspect is tangerine) used in marinating. They ran out of the usual black fungus and replaced it with the choice of braised mushrooms or peanuts. Wanted to add-on preserved veggies but they ran out of that too, so I add-on the tau pok instead which I wouldn’t order it next time, tastes pretty average and not worth it.

(S$3.50, add-on Tau Pok additional of $0.50)

The pork was well braised with the herbal flavour of the sauce thoroughly infused into the meat. The meat is usually served with black fungus and a braised egg, but it ran out by the time we arrived. Instead we were served braised mushrooms and pickled vegetables which were tasty substitutes. Last but not least, if you're a chilli lover like me, you must have their homemade chilli sauce. It will give your taste buds a fiery kick.

@mrlorbak immediately came to mind. All that fatty meat that disintegrates in the mouth. Really missing everything in this bowl.
