The taiyaki fillings tend to be concentrated in the middle, so the edges are just pancake kosong. The cream cheese is thick and just salty enough to balance out the slightly sweet pancake. Might work a bit better if the cream cheese were spread out more evenly, but it’s easy enough to take a mouthful of the edge and eat some of the cream cheese.

MUST pick up every time I’m around Ngee Ann City. So good especially when you get a bite with both the peanut butter and mochi with creamy, chewy and cakey texture all in one mouthful.

Probably the most expensive item at Mr Obanyaki - the mochi taiyaki is available with two different fillings (red bean and cream cheese).

I personally don’t like this very much as I feel the mochi is a tad too soft and sticky for my liking. The taiyaki is quite flimsy and tends to flop about. However, my mom absolutely loves the mochi taiyaki and thinks it’s the best flavour out of all the taiyaki and Obanyaki available. If you like chewy and sticky mochi, give this a try.

Green tea flavoured batter with red bean filling in a fish-shaped Taiyaki pancake! Matcha taste is quite strong but could’ve done better with more red bean paste to offset the bitterness. Also felt that the taiyaki is denser than the Obanyaki so it was harder to swallow as it wasn’t as fluffy. It’s nice that you can still feel chunks of the red beans inside the filling. I think matcha lovers would appreciate this!

The amount of filling to pancake is perfect without being overwhelming. Thick creamy peanut butter with chewy mochi to mellow out the saltiness.

The pancake exterior is crispy while the interior is soft and fluffy. Might be even nicer if it’s hot, perhaps can buy some back home to toast up and eat!

Filling is super thick creamy peanut butter, there’s less filling in this than the other pancakes as only
one side has filling while the other is plain but the filling is still extremely generous. Good for the peanut butter purists.

Pancake skin is slightly crisp on the outside and soft and the interior is soft and spongy.
