Muchachos

1254 Wishlisted
~$15/pax
Who says you can't crack open a good bottle of Californian red with your Mission-style, beast of a burrito? At Muchachos, the burritos are so ridiculously reasonable (and humungous!) at $12 a pop, you'll have spare change to spend on a $40 bottle of wine to complete your dinner date. Customize your burrito by selecting your favourite meat, toppings and salsa. You can even choose the smaller "burritino" for the "womenfolk" as they say at Muchachos ;) Tasty food, good wine, and the chic, industrial feel of this Keong Saik eatery is just what a date needs.

Dish: Shared a fish quesadilla and pork quesadilla with my friend. They used a pretty good quality fish for the fish quesadilla. While it was supposed to be battered and fried, the fish was pretty mushy in the quesadilla, which could make or break the dish. I personally liked how the flavours of the fish blended with the dish, but also disappointed in the lack of texture. The pork quesadilla was definitely more delectable. Though lacking a bit in the flavour department, the pork was tender and plentiful. Tried a bit of my friend's steak burrito too. The steak was tender too, but even less flavourful than the pork.

Price: Had 50% off the entire bill as they were having a promotion for frontliners. It was definitely great value for what we paid ($6 for 1 whole quesadilla). The serving sizes are huge. Get the burrito if you are super hungry.

Final verdict: Would come back without the promotion to try the burrito! Get the pork filling if you are craving meat and the fish filling if you want something healthier :)

I point you to Muchachos. If you’d just pay attention to how thick this quesadilla is, as well as how big the entire portion is (just peek at the remaining half on the table), you’d understand why I was so in love. It’s not fancy, special, nor is it particularly instagrammable, but for $12 I get this massive quesadilla that’s so immensely tasty and satisfying I’d happily have it every day. How it works here is you start off picking your protein, followed by the way you’d like to enjoy it (burrito bowl/taco/quesadilla). We had the Pollo Asado (chicken) as prepared as a quesadilla, stuffed with salsa, sour cream, and cheese. Really fuss-free but damn it’s some delicious hearty stuff.

Prawn and fish quesadillas are my favourites. Always go for the guacamole!

Freaking love the Breakfast and California burritos! Yummy and value for money!

Finally here after all the good things I’ve heard about this place. Headed down to their old outlet 2 years back and when we were there, it was closed. So am back at the new outlet trying it for the first time. That’s two years of built up expectations!

Sadly, i was extremely disappointed. Ordered the Carne Asada Burrito ($13.50) and Pescador Quesadilla ($12) which is the fish. Burrito kinda reminded me of stuff’d .. there was nothing spectacular about it despite people saying this burrito is amazing and the best in SG. Mehh no flavour at all, the beef was really tasteless and it was all mushy with no apparent taste and crunch of salsa I was hoping for. Dipping in the sauces barely salvaged the dish. Just plain bad and if i wanted burrito, I can just get it from stuff’d next time at half the price seriously.

The fish quesadilla was a tad better but too oily. It was literally dripping each time I took a bite and the greasy aftertaste was appalling. Taste was also mediocre and nothing to rave about. First and last time I’ll be back at Muchachos.

Getting my Mexican food craving satisfied from this place. This is probably my first burrito wrapped with fish. It doesn’t has a strong taste or flavour mixing with other ingredients inside the burrito, pretty much a very comfortable food I have here.
