Behind every bowl of Mui Kee congee lies a heritage as rich as its flavour. Its humble origins date back to 1979 where founder Mak Mui opened Mui Kee in a small corner stall in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. Today, Mui Kee Congee is helmed by her grandson, Ah Tung. Using recipes and cooking techniques which have been passed down through three generations, every scoop of silky smooth congee is filled with old school ingenuity.

Ordered the Garoupa(Grouper) slice fish porridge as they were out of parrot fish. Added on the homemade pork balls whose price wasn't stated. Turns out it was $4 for 4 pork balls. The porridge is incredibly smooth but not watery. In comparison, crystal jade's porridge is smooth but more watery (like 生水).

Fish was fresh but skip the pork ball.

Had this big bowl to share. Wanted to order the highly raved parrot fish belly congee, but they only had garoupa tonight. Unfortunately it didn't really have the wok hei that everyone was talking about but I still enjoyed it.

Pictured: raw amberjack ($12), beef brisket ($18) and century egg ($2.50). All really good! Service was surprisingly great at this place too (mainly from the manager).
