Fresh and good! The piece looks seemingly small but the portion was just right! Value for money!

Tucked in the basement of Takashimaya is Nakajima Suisan, a Japanese grilled fish shop which sells the freshest seafood. If you’re feeling basic, you can get the Saba fish set ($9). If you’ve gotten your bonus, you can get order the same fish set as me 😂

Fresh and juicy piece of (deboned) Saba fish! Comes with miso soup, salad and rice as well - very value for money! Indeed a hidden gem!

Easily one of the best grilled fish I ever eaten locally. And maybe one of the very few fish that I’ll describe as succulent. Yes, crispy skin and moist on the inside. Worth it for its price and the quality. Set comes along with a side salad with roasted sesame dressing, pickled radish, miso soup (with vegetables and slices of tofu puffs) and white rice, washed down with some complementary tea. However, I must say it can get quite salty for some so do pair your perfect bite intelligently with a good amount of rice and salad.

Just look at that beautifully grilled fish. Reasonable prices and generous portions. Definitely a lunchtime fave


We were joking that there's no way to make this dish look good, but thankfully it certainly tastes good! If you prefer heavier and fattier fish like in this case- tuna, this is definitely a great option. It was incredibly rich in taste because of all the fats, but nonetheless, very satisfying, much like eating a good slab of steak.
Do note that it got too rich after a while (and that is why they have thoughtfully complemented it with radish and lemon) so to get the best of both worlds, I'd recommend getting another lighter tasting fish to share them with a friend.
