I liked the rice. Not the soft mushy type. Dumpling soup had only one dumpling inside and it was more like a wonton. Filling was really little and a lot of skin. Bean sprouts were ok. I had the soy sauce chicken cos roast chicken was not ready yet. I didn’t like it. Very little meat a lot of bones. Some parts were reddish pink so I had to cut them out. Sauce was a thick light brown colored sauce that didn’t resemble soy sauce. The best thing was the chili sauce. Good spicy level and garlicky.

They moved from basement up to level 2.

This laksa was not spicy and quite Lemak. 2 prawns inside but not deveined. It didn’t taste stir fried, more like normal laksa in very little thick gravy.

This was in my Laksa set too. Not sweet. Very nice.

The radish cake was part of the laksa set. Ala carte was ($1.20). Tasted better than I thot. The cake was soft inside and crispy outside. Not sure if they heated them up but they were warm. Chili sauce was nice. I was afraid the ngoh Hiang would be porky and heavily spiced but it wasn’t at all! Quite impressed.

The Food
I ordered the Chicken Rice Ball set meal with fried vegetables with shallots and lotus root pork ribs soup The rice ball was fragrant, firm, a bit sticky and easily tear apart with chop stick. Taste wise same like chicken rice but texture is like eating rice dumplings.
The chicken was springy, chewy and juicy with lots of lean meat too! Most important is the chilli sauce which was a bit sour and spiciness just nice and taste shiok !! The chicken rice ball was wrapped in special paper maybe to retain the moisture and after "unwrap" the paper, I saw the rice so "fat" and "juicy" and glistens under natural lighting
The seat meal also comes with Lotus root pork ribs soup which tastes nice and homely and packs a lot of ingredients like lotus roots, carrots, red dates and pork ribs.
As for the fried vegetables with shallots, I find that is a bit too oily for me but taste wise still acceptable for me.

The Price
Reasonably priced at $25++ for generous portion of vegetables, herbal soup and chicken

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

Second stop of our food trail through Square 2 @ Novena yesterday. Nan Xiang Chicken Rice with delicious chicken rice, signature chicken rice balls and this yam ring. In the basement nearby Harvey Norman, this is a hidden little gem.
Instagrammers can check out the vintage tiles bordering the shop if you're looking for a photo-op. 🙈
Thanks to Nan Xiang and @square2sg for hosting us.
