Nanbantei Japanese Restaurant (Far East Plaza)

Equally good but this was definitely more value-for-money!

Comes with appetizer, miso soup and salad. All 5 skewers were well-seasoned and nicely grilled, ingredients were fresh! Tempura batter was quite light but nothing to shout about. First time here but will gladly be back for the Yakitori! Glad that the place is relatively well ventilated so one doesn’t smell like grilled skewers after.

Entering this restaurant will probably make you think that you're in Japan, as the experience is really authentic. The Yakitori Bento Lunch Set ($15.50) consist of chicken and pork skewers that were absolutely stunning. All skewers were very well seasoned and were grilled to perfection, with a touch of smokiness in them. None of the ingredients in the bento is neglected, including the ingredients on the rice. I must say, the quality of this bento is probably on par with those I've eaten in Japan. A wonderful meal indeed!

Took me a gazillion years to come here for lunch and definitely won’t be the last. The lunch sets are so value for money and def a great place to go along the orchard stretch. The meat were all well marinated, the Yakitori came out very nicely grilled. I would 💯 return for another meal.

Far East Plaza might be the slightly-shady mall along Orchard Road that sells cheap street clothes, but it’s also the homeground of what’s arguably the one of the pioneering yakitori restaurants in Singapore. The yakitori bento is Nanbantei’s most well-received lunch set. At $15.50, it’s value for money. One gets five sticks of yakitori: shiitake mushrooms, asparagus wrapped in bacon, pork seasoned with garlic, chicken balls 👍🏻, and chicken with leek😍; and rice with mushroom, seaweed and minced meat; and a small handful of raw vegetables, to be eaten with a rather forgettable dip. The set also comes with miso soup.

Yummy don set with grilled black pork slices. Theres also an egg over the rice. Mix everything together and savour this bowl of goodness!
