Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar

2324 Wishlisted
~$30/pax
With its late night dinner and bar bites offerings and very comprehensive drinks menu, Nassim Hill, nestled in the Tanglin Post Office building, brings new energy and excitement to the downtown dining and bar scene. With its extensive drinks list that includes a variety of beers on tap, wines, whiskies, boutique malts, champagnes, spirits, liquors and cocktails, Nassim Hill becomes the perfect spot for the ultimate pairing between great cuisine and drinks. Taking centre stage is an enormous marble counter that seats up to 20 something one might find in a medieval tavern. Customers in Nassim Hill are encouraged to share dining space and mingle at the counter and the communal tables, and tap their own draught beers at the end of the counter, where the taps are located. The bar also serves its unique all-day signature cocktails such as Yuzu Breeze or Dirty Sriracha Bloody Mary and has the longest happy hour in town for draught beer pints from 9 am to 9 pm. The bistro is also well known for its famed malt-flavored Stout beer bread, used in their signature Hot Reuben sandwich. Taking a spin on classic dishes, the bistro also offers Spicy Eggs Benedict and Chili Crab pasta as well as healthier alternatives such as their generously sized Detox Salad, The Nutty Bird and Asian Chicken salads. All eggs used are antibiotic and hormone free. If you are interested in holding your event, birthday or wedding at Nassim Hill, please contact [email protected]

Heard many good things about their bakes, especially their sourdough and that’s what we got with their artisanal bread basket that comes with rustic sourdough with Bordier butter ($4) and it’s absolutely divine. The breads alone are worth the trip already to Nassim Hill Bakery and for sharing we got the Potato Gnocchi ($18) and the hose special of Crab Cake Benedict ($30). The former is a great surprise as the gnocchi are pan fried to have a charred and crispy exterior, while the accompanying mushrooms, chives and brussel sprouts in the creamed spinach sauce completes the dish. The latter, though it might seem expensive at first, but it’s justified with the highlight of the huge panko crusted jumbo lump crab meat which you can see that the meat is packed to the maximum with a thin layer of batter.

Similar to their Chocolate one I shared about previously, their Kaya doughnut boasts an amazingly fluffy brioche that’s soft, springy, and very neutral in flavour, thus leaving the spotlight to the lovely kaya custard. Now, that custard: smooth, wonderfully perfumed, aaaaabsolutely delish. Just swipe left and see for yourselves guys it was beyond generous and utterly stunning.

The mud pie ($7++) features a cookie crust, filled with chocolate ganache. The portion is a little small but this was a delightful end to our meal! The chocolate filling is thick and rich, with a slight saltiness in the base to balance its palette.

Wasn’t expecting anything out of the ordinary from the Nassim Hill burger ($23++), but it surprised me with just how well done it was! The beef patty was tender, oozing with juices and fragrant with the scent of rosemary. The balsamic onions gave the perfect amount of acidity too! My only gripe is that I would have liked the buns to be fluffier and crispier - they felt a little stale, especially when laden with sauce.

Nassim Hill does a decent rendition of the chilli crab pasta ($25++), our local favourite! Their sauce is more starchy than most other places, but packs a fiery punch. Spaghetti was al dente and the portion of crab generous.
