Although I’m happy to hear that PUTIEN decided to preserve this heritage name, what I’m not sure is that whether they are doing it correctly.

Since PUTIEN taken over the name and reopened opposite the original stall in this cosy air-conditioned restaurant, many people has leave comments that wasn’t so positive about it.

Firstly, Sam Leong Street Chicken Rice stall has a long history serving affordable chicken rice in this area. But now PUTIEN making it into a fast food style of restaurant, I just don’t see it a good way to elevate the legacy of what it used to be.

The portion is really lacking for the price we are paying now, and even worst when they decided to use disposable cutlery. It totally brings down the appetite for many people, imagine you would keep tasting the paper as you eating the chicken and soup.

Thankfully the chicken rice itself still okay, but definitely not when you have to pay for such higher fare and of course you would expecting a much better delights.

The individual set I gotten already cost me past $10, which is consider much enough to fill my tummy. This individual set allows you to try both poached and roasted chicken at once, or you can just grab one with 2 portions. Accompanied by a side and soup. Drink is not included for this individual set unfortunately.

The soup also comes with pieces of herbs chicken and mushroom. And for side, I gotten the beancurd.

It was almost empty when I came on weekday dinner time, wondering whether they can survive long enough to preserve this legacy. I hope so if they can make those changes to suit what most people would want it to be.

Nice simple burgers, just as the name suggests.
It's a little kiosk but has enough seating for about 10 pax.

Price point about $10 per person. I ordered 'Äyam Penyet feast' which had chicken burger, coke can, fries and chicken nuggets.
The food was oily but tasty. Can be considered a little treat.

Access to the place is easy. It's at B1 level of City Square mall. Same floor as the cab drop-off or the MRT, whichever you choose.

Hadn’t been to Old Hen Coffee Bar for quite a while — wasn’t really in our mind to drop by but got reminded about their existence whilst passing some streets to head to where we originally intended to head to and decided to divert ourselves back to this familiar spot again. Seems like these folks had switched up their seating layout a while ago; gone was the wooden communal table and the wooden high table that once provided the window seating that faces outside of the cafe — a cushioned bench seating can be found backfacing the window, with the tables now better accommodating to patrons that swing by in pairs instead. Notwithstanding those changes, there is still a sense of familiarity within the space that stayed recognisable over all these years; not sure if we are getting old, but revisiting those places that we have frequented in the past just brings back some calmness of simpler times that we have had in the days that we visited these places.

Old Hen Coffee Bar has always been a spot that is best know for their bottled cold brews ever since they have started operations — their cold brew bottles having changed a number of times over the years, but their branding on their bottles had still remained to be fairly recognisable and even iconic over the years. Turns out, they had just introduced their new Honey Oat Latte bottled brew during our most recent visit there; a dairy-free beverage, the Honey Oat Latte features honey sourced from The Rare Honey Company — we had also previously visited Goldies at Stirling Road, which is a cafe run by The Rare Honey Company that also retails their raw honey in-store as well. For those familiar with Old Hen Coffee Bar, their Cold Brew White has been noted to be a sweetened beverage — the flavours also being rather consistent over the years; whilst most places serve their bottled Oat Cold Brews without any added sweetness, the Honey Oat Latte sees that familiar level of sweetness coming from the addition of honey. We recalled the floral aroma of the honey in the offerings at Goldies to be rather evident and the same could be said about the Honey Oat Latte — these same notes run at the back of the tongue as the finishing notes to the coffee. Considering the level of sweetness of the Honey Oat Latte though, the grainy notes of oat milk are not quite as obvious here as compared to the unsweetened Honey Oat Latte that we had tried elsewhere — the cuppa still carrying more of a nutty note amidst the sweetness which we felt to be rather balanced. Definitely one to go for those whom are ardent fans of Old Hen Coffee Bar’s bottled cold brew coffees, and would probably suit those whom have a thing with their Cold Brew White!

Was recommended by a friend and suggested this restaurant for my recent reunion with close friends. Don’t judge the restaurant by the run down facade and poorly decorated interior. Serving both vegetarian and non vegetarian North and South Indian food, the menu is impressive and the food is AMAZINGLY delicious. Best of all… it doesnt hurt the wallet. The restaurant is rather small, so making a reservation is highly recommended.

Adam's corner is a 24 hour shop located along Lavender street.

They have a very very extensive menu, from zhi char, to thai food, to Indian, Muslim food etc

The maggi goreng pattaya was rather good. Portion is huge and entire dish was flavourful.

I search another gelato shop since I have tried most of popular gelato shop (I think so except some of heartlands at west area)

($11.50)

Uji Matcha

taste like pandan? colour got strong and bright green but then still got bitter taste :")

Roasted Hojicha

taste like roasted tea. I felt that it's quite nicer than uji matcha?

My partner wanted to get his daily coffee fix and since we were in the area, we decided to pop by SYIP! Ordered their Iced White ($6) and Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte ($7.50) to go – paid a total of $14.72 after factoring in GST (9%).

For the size of the drinks, I do think there are better options out there that gives you more bang for the buck. You do however get drinks that are very aesthetically-pleasing. The matcha was unsweetened and it blended well with the milk to give a smooth consistency. It took quite a bit of effort though, to get the matcha thoroughly mixed with the strawberry bits at the bottom. (Imagine vigourous swirling of the cup)

This ranks second for my favourite matcha strawberry lattes 😋 I don’t have any reviews for the Iced White but this is the second time my partner has ordered this from SYIP so I suppose it must be good!

recommend their cloud drink creations starting from $8 - which has a smooth cream foam over their house brews selection from coffee to ice shaken tea 👍 The Pandan Cloud ($9) can work as both a drink and dessert 😋

They serve all day brunch starting from just $9 for basic bakes + eggs of your choice✨ got their cauliflower steak ($15) and truffle cheese toasties ($20) both done beyond cafe standards with their own blend of seasoning and flavors such as 5 different cheese in a toast! don’t mind having more cheese though 😛

✨New cafe to work and chill at Farrer Park✨

The rice with mackerel was very tasty. Didn’t like the creamy stuff as much.
