Amongst the few places in Singapore offering this famous JB dish Chao Ta Bee Hoon (San Lou Bee Hoon), my preference is Yong Kee. It is always done to perfection, crispy on the outside, with soft bee Hoon hidden underneath together with seafood and lots of sinful lard bits. Perhaps flavour wise, there are other better ones but none can claim the consistency of quality like Yong Kee.
Located in a Kopitiam with limited tables, so come early during meal hours.
Silky smooth and small portion perfect for 1. Minced meat and egg could be more tho
Must try signature dish ! You will love this if you’re a fan of crispy stuff and carrot cake. Must eat while it’s hot tho
Big and bouncy shrimp paste better than most dim sum places! Highly recommend this
Better than average! Ginger is super pronounced on the chicken and mushroom is something special too!
Not bad but nothing spectacular. Wish skin was thinner with more filling tho
Yong Kee Seafood is a Zhi Char establishment that opens from 5.45pm till late(2.45am, according to google).
They serve some damn good zhi char and their speciality here is their Mee Sua Gor & Chaota Bee Hoon.
There are tables available indoors in the coffee shop, but opted to sit outside and enjoy the free outdoor music atmosphere from next door
1) Mee Sua Gor: Basically Mee Sua in Thick Soup. Surprisingly flavourful. Goes very well with pepper and vinegar, eating it machiam like shark fin soup.
2) Chaota Bee Hoon: Damn Crispy & Good, may look plain on the surface, but all their prawns and other ingredients are hidden beneath this layer of ultra fried Bee hoon.
3) Dried Fried Minced Pork with Prawns in Tofu Skin: this is also very good, flavourful and this plate is the first to be cleared.
4) Hot Plate Tofu: the sauce was thick and flavourful, egg was still runny.
Good, quite difficult to pull out though even with their advice, i cracked the entire thing. But tastes mainly of cardamom really
Overall the branches seem to be quite consistent so pick the one near you, plus idt every branch has chef mike
Given how good their mango Kulfi was, i shouldnt have been surprised by the incredible quality of this
Thick, rich, and creamy, they're masterful at combining mango and yoghurt flavours. It's incredibly satisfying to drink, and just as hard to stop
MUST try
Mutton was fatty and tender, grains were fluffy
But its microwaved. Too fast plus uneven heating, no wonder theres not a single soul here.
And theres a huge pool of oil at the bottom
Pass
Michelin Bib Gourmand Briyani, that's located at Dunlop Street, which is in Little India Vicinity.
This briyani is not served with any curry. But like most dum briyani i had, the chicken is coated with dry curry and fried onions. Chicken was tender, but the breast meat part can get rather dry. Rice was fragrant.
This certainly is one of the better briyani place I had.
Interior was a little dark and depressing to be honest.
Kulfi is a traditional Indian "ice cream"
Here at Bismillah, You pop it out of the cup and eat it like ice cream on a stick.
Unlike traditional ice cream, this is harder and denser. Milky and custardy.
First time I'm having Kulfi, this really appeals to my sweet tooth, now I will keep a look out for Kulfi when I visit Any Indian food establishment.
