Was over at Daiyusan Sushi Bar for dinner earlier this week with my dining companion. Like my first visit, the overall food experience still feels pleasant and enjoyable. This time round, we tasted a different selection of food. The nightโ€™s menu consisted of:

~Deluxe Chirashi Don: Definitely the highlight of our meal. This indulgent bowl came with a fresh offering of assorted fish cubes, uni, and ikura, atop a bed of rice that was seasoned really well!

~The Kushiyaki Moriawase (Chicken Wing, Asparagus with Bacon, Cherry Tomato with Bacon, Chicken Thigh , Shitake Mushroom): Each skewer was nicely grilled, and my personal favourites were the Cherry Tomato with Bacon which nicely pairs sweet tomato with the savoury meat, and the lightly salted and juicy Chicken Thigh.

~Buta Kakuni Don: The braised pork belly slices were tender and packed with flavour! This was also served with a soft boiled egg which added a creamy mouthfeel.

~Chawanmushi of the Day (Uni Chawanmushi and Unagi Chawanmushi): Both versions of chawanmushi were good, but we both preferred the unagi one!

Modern food hall by day and bistro bar at night, B.E.D. is located in the industrial buildings of Tai Seng, right beside BreadTalk HQ. Admittedly, it was difficult to find our way once inside. The space was huge and had a variety of food options like a sushi bar and chinese restaurant. Well, we were here for their newly opened Located at the back of the Tai Seng Food Hall, they serve up assorted vegetables and side dishes you will usually find at a ๆฝฎๅทž็ณœ place.

We had their signature This was a generous slab of pork belly served upon a mountain of white rice along with sliced beancurd, half a braised egg, and peanuts. The pork belly here was well done and had a fat to meat ratio of about 70:30, which delightfully melted in our mouths.

They are currently running a promotion for the steamed fish. You can order a ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ต for only $8.80! Popular Japanese food stall within Ubi industrial area that attract the working people here during lunch time.

Offering affordable Japanese foods in the food court. Their chicken comes with crispy skin and the meat is easy to bite. Thereโ€™s also fluffy egg underneath accompanying with green beans.

Thereโ€™s complimentary soup along as well, although the taste was a bit bland.

More like egg mayo croissant with hints of truffle that werenโ€™t very apparent. Croissant was flaky and decent enough, though it was overall nothing mind blowing. A generous portion of filling though!

Toasted sourdough was soft and fluffy, giving a nice chew with every bite. But I loved the flavours which came through with all the ingredients combined. A medley of wonderfully sautรฉed mushrooms, honey baked ham, garlic Mayo, with three generous cheeses - American cheese, cheddar, and mozzarella slapped in between two slices to make a pretty huge sandwich. Delicious and convenient, which no wonder even people working around would patronise!

Tried So Ramenโ€™s Flaming Lobster Seafood Poached Rice and it was better than we expected - base was a seafood tonkotsu broth, topped with a couple types of seafood, crisped puff rice, and half a lobster with mentaiko and cheese thatโ€™s torched. Appreciated how the soup was kept hot throughout in the stone pot. Available till end of March, with limited bowls daily.

Tbh not very impressed. The golden sauce is quite mild, it is thick and creamy in texture but really it isn't anything too crazy. The ckn roll tastes very normal too.
Can try if you're stay in the area

They're moving to honglim right now, so this outlet won't be open anymore.

While I didn't enjoy my chocolate croissant, at least the rice bowl was not bad & the coffee delightful. &, also, the service was extremely polite & efficient... To anyone, regardless of whether they're a first-timer or regular clientele (you can tell by the amusing banter).

I observed there was a good mix of dine-ins & takeouts during my ~1 hour meal here; mostly office folks, I reckon (worthy to note that An Honest Cup is not open on weekends).

I was craving something sweet to finish up my coffee with, & ordered the Chocolate Croissant ($4.80+) as a treat. Unfortunately, this was such a struggle to finish.

T'was heated up cheerfully, but the inside was so tough to cut through & chew.. Felt tough like soggy cardboard. My sweet tooth craving was satisfied, but I was sad I spent money on this. Wouldn't order this again.

The best part of my meal at An Honest Cup was the 5oz White ($4.80+) coffee, which is a Double Espresso + Hot Milk for "balanced" flavour. This, compared to the 7oz White option which is listed as "milky".

I'd come back here just for the coffee alone, if I were in the vicinity (they're located in a light industrial estate).
