When we talk about hawker food at serangoon gardens, stalls from the chomp chomp food centre will normally come into the picture. However, there is a gem in the lesser known Serangoon Garden Food Centre that you should know about!
This Mee Goreng ($5.50) here is really worth mentioning. With 3 rather large juicy prawns and several squid slices, the Mee Goreng was fried so well, as the noodles were al dente, not starchy and definitely did not have the alkaline taste. It was not overly oily, but yet still flavourful. The acidity from the lime helps to cut the oiliness further and before I know it, I cleaned up the plate!
A very well balanced Mee Goreng. This may be the best rendition I've had so far.
Decent and average chicken and pork satay that wasย lackingย the strong charred and smoky flavours. The marinate leans towards the sweet side and the pork satay was a little tough. Served with peanut sauce added with pineapple puree. Itโs not that bad but given the choices across the road, there are just much better stalls over there ใ$0.70 Each

No-frills tze char stall that serves a good selection of dishes. Food taste and prices are pretty decent compared to other tze char stores. I ordered the fish head curry that came thick and well balanced with generous servings of vegetables. The curry was not too spicy which makes an excellent pairing with rice. The fish was fresh but Iโd prefer a more generous serving of fish ใ$26 + $0.50 Rice
Apparently a hidden gem here, read a few reviews that this was the better carrot cake in serangoon garden.
And those reviews were spot on, its really a delicious plate of carrot cake.
$3 only, must try here if u still hungry after lunch.

If you are not aware, Serangoon Garden Food Centre is undergoing 3 months renovation from today 1 March 2021, and will reopen after 31 May 2021! Yesterday we managed to pull ourselves out of bed early to drop by and enjoy the food there before they are closed. We were lucky as they still have a whole round cake of butter cake (10pcs) for $9! We really loves their breads & cakes as itโs super duper fragrant. Their butter cake is like marble cake, thereโs swirls in the cake and it has a nostalgic old school smell which is so irresistible every time we open the cake box! Butter cake is so soft, fluffy and we couldnโt stop at one! Best eaten with a cup of hot tea or coffee anytime of the day. Canโt wait for 3 months to pass by quickly so we can drop by for more to ease our cravings. โ

You canโt leave this food centre without bringing back home some buns from Serangoon Garden Bakery, selling their famous old school buns.
It seems like this Serangoon Garden Carrot Cake has a long history that they even using the old Serangoon name in Chinese back then.
Gotten the black version, which cooked perfectly and taste good together with the fried egg. $3

Donโt underestimate this ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ผ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ & ๐ช๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ก๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐น๐ฒ stall that sells Wanton mee and both Black & White Carrot Cake. So far we hadnโt seen a stall that sells this combination, but we were told from our friends that this is one of the stalls they will definitely visit whenever they comes here. Greeted with a long queue just like the other famous stalls, we decided to join the queue to order the recommended black carrot cake. Itโs very affordable, comes in different pricing of $3, $4, $5. We ordered the $4 and portion is huge! The cake has a soft texture, fried generously with lots of eggs and Chye poh. The most ingredient for Black carrot cake is the black sauce and the black sauce nail it right, itโs sweet enough and flavourful, yet not too sweet for our liking! Every bite is so full of flavours! This will definitely get you hooked to it if you enjoyed sweet black carrot cake, just like us! โ

An adaptation of their signature pumpkin prawns. Although we didn't get their plump crustaceans, the generous and well-fried chicken made up for it. The sauce was fantastic as always, but as always was less pumpkin and more butter.
Not bad. Oddly only half the pieces of beancurd had seaweed.
This also came in a pack of 2 so one bun is $1. Again, the filling was too little so it was a disappointment :( kaya was good tho!
Bought this from the Serangoon Garden Bakery & Confectionery. They sell this in a pack of 2, so one pack is $2! Bread is nice & fluffy, but we were abit disappointed bc the filling was just too little. Not as good as some of the other bakeries out there which is a shame bc prior to buying this, we read the reviews & most of the reviews were pretty good ๐
