* This place has closed :( Please try somewhere else. * Located just across the iconic Rasa Singapura that operated in the 80s, New Rasa Singapura has a long-term aim to serve the best of local hawker delights. With our strategic location, we hope to bring Singaporean favourites like fish head curry, beef rendang, soup kambing, hainanese chicken rice, dry laksa, char kway teow, fried carrot cake, chap chye, and many more to both tourists and locals. Don't be surprised if you see the less fortunate working in our establishment, including people with physical or hearing impairment, recovering stroke patients and mature vulnerable individuals. We are a social enterprise that reaches out to the disadvantaged with the social mission to train and employ them so that they can be integrated back to society.

From the Burpple community

Came with normal white rice upon request. Rather tender the soy sauce was nice as well. However it's slightly pricey considering its chicken rice

NOTE that their lunch items are different for every day of the week, so check before you come

During lunch, not sure about the price during dinner

It's quite average and the crab meat wasnt stunning, but just like normal laksa, it's made much much better with their salty sambal

Located on the street level of the Tanglin Post Office Building, New Rasa Singapura is a restaurant that serves local delights. It is also a social enterprise that provides training and employment to the less fortunate, including mature individuals or people with physical impairment.
🍝
So if you are lunching around Tanglin, do pop by New Rasa Singapura to eat some yummy and support the less fortunate at the same time. On weekdays, New Rasa offer affordable lunch sets at SGD 10 Nett (main course of the day + Coffee/Tea/Soft Drink/Potong Ice Cream). Each day, there are 2 different choices available. On Wednesdays, you can choose between New Rasa Laksa or Hainanese Chicken Rice. And on other days, you can look forward to local favourites like Char Kway Teow, Beef Rendang and Carrot Cake.
🍝
In frame is my choice of New Rasa Laksa and Clipper Tea. New Rasa Laksa is a dry laksa served with chicken/prawns, tau pok (fried beancurd) and beansprouts. I opted to have it with chicken, which was tender and succulent. While the spicy level is on the low side, taste is authentic and the amount of coconut milk is not overwhelming. Overall, a good dry laksa. give it some love if you are around here!

After years of perfecting its recipe, New Rasa Singapura put out the best kambing soup.

The gelatinous-like tenderness of the lamb makes this New Rasa Soup Kambing ($14/24++) stand out from the rest. The rich broth comes in three levels of spiciness (original, spicy or crazy spicy)! Obviously, we went for crazy spicy cos I live for spicy food.

The restaurant aims to be identified as a place which serves awesome Singaporean food with twist. These include Angoli fish head curry, beef rendang, Hainanese chicken rice, dry laksa and another of my favourites, black pepper char kway teow.

New Rasa Singapura is a social enterprise that is part of the #FestivalForGood initiative by @raiSEsg. With every $50 spent in the month of August, you enjoy a $10 return voucher. So what are you waiting for?

Thank you Josephine for hosting us and as well as Burpple for the invite!

Located at Tanglin Post Office, across the road from where the iconic Rasa Singapura food centre used to stand in the 80s, this restaurant-bar employs the less fortunate — these include those suffering from hearing impairment to recovering stroke patients — all of whom work together to dish out local hawker eats in a breezy alfresco space. For best value, come with your colleagues for their weekday lunch special, where dishes like fried carrot cake, black pepper char kway teow and beef rendang with rice go for a very affordable $8 each (top up $2 for a drink). Dishes change daily, so visit their website for updates. You can also pop by for a post-work beer (from $6) and nibbles — try the New Rasa Chicken Wings (from $12 for six) and Satay (from $12 for six sticks). Prices no doubt reflect its more upmarket setting, but take comfort in the fact that the money goes to a good cause. In support of FestivalForGood!, receive a $10 return voucher with every $50 spent in the month of August.

New Rasa Singapura not only provides comforting, authentic local delights with a twist, but also aims to provide employment opportunities for their beneficiaries to help integrate them back into society. Hence, throughout the month of August, they are one of eight local social enterprise eateries participating in the Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE)'s #DineForGood as part of the inaugural #FeativalForGood.

Their black pepper char kway teow has the characteristic sweetness of the dark soy sauce, while having a fiery kick via the addition of a healthy dose of black pepper. Despite not using any lard, the noodles were still sufficiently wet and fragrant and not dry at all. Also, the prawns used were really fresh and plump and were a highlight of the dish.

Josephine, owner of New Rasa Singapura, shared with us her motivation to start this social enterprise. Recognising that there are many members of society who might not have been as fortunate as most of us, she started this social enterprise in order to give back to society. New Rasa Singapura works with various government agencies such as MINDS and IMH to provide their beneficiaries with meaningful job opportunities by simplifying their food preparation processes. As such, your patronage would go a long way in ensuring that there's a sustainable business model for them to continue to do so!

Thus, this August, be #partofthegood by dining at New Rasa Singapura! Spend $50 in one receipt and receive a voucher of $10 to be used during the next visit.

Many thanks to Josephine for hosting, and Burpple for the invite!
