More Reviews of good food at Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh (Jalan Kayu)

Feel like it's quite rare to find herbal bak kut teh and I'm glad to have found this chain!

Their weekday lunch set ($10.90) consists of a regular bak kut teh, 2 sides and a drink. Do note that rice is not included, but you can choose it as 1 of your side dish.

The soup itself is not bad, it has the herbal flavours and it is not too salty. The meats given were moderately tender and best paired with soya sauce and chilli! I'm surprised to find some pork liver and stomach as well, which were fresh.

Not bad of an option if you are around the area!

I like the soup of Bak Kut teh but the pork is a bit hard compared with songfa. The braised big intestine is very good!

One of the nicest bak ku teh
- affordable
- $8/pax ++
- suitable for date night / groups

Deviating from the usual rich broth convention is this featured right here!

The rich and luxurious gravy is created by reducing the tasty bak kut teh soup and high quality dark soya sauce. The dish is then enhanced with sprigs of dried chilli and slivers of dried cuttlefish and crunchy lady fingers.

One word to sum it up, SHIOK 😋

Enjoy coming here every 3-4 months☺️
Food is decently priced with side dishes, main bak kut teh soup, added enoki mushroom and beancurd skin etc.

This fills 2 people and is about $12 per person!!😍💯

Food is served quickly as well and staff are efficient👍🏻 Would recommend this to all who crave for bakkutteh because you wont be disappointed😛

Tender pork ribs coated in dark soy sauce. It comes with dried chilli, thinly sliced cuttlefish, lady’s finger and pig stomach 》$7.50 / Small

Comes with pork ribs, intestines and liver. The taste of the soup has a nice balance between savoury and herbal. I love to top it up with additional tau kee (beancurd skin) coz they were really go the piping hot soup. The staff here were helpful and friendly. They kept refilling our soup without us having to get their attention 👍

I don't know about you, but when it comes to Bak Kut Teh, I am all for the herbal, "black" style. Think JB, or better yet think Klang's standard (the home of BKT. I kid you not, they hold annual BKT competition to rank their BKT stores). Thankfully, Soon Huat is within the vicinity for my BKT quick fix. Soon Huat, is somewhat like Malaysian BKT and yet somehow lack the strong porky-herbal broth that I like. It is only good, when you need tea to wash down the BKT. Their dry version, fared better but it would great if it's slightly strongly. The meat portion is fairly generous, what's on the table is enough for 3 pax. And those large intestines are soft and well cleaned out with their slightly thicker braised sauce. Great meal overall, if you are sick of pratas and roti-johns when you are in that area.

Flavoursome herbal BKT comes with pork tripes, liver, ribs, enoki mushroom and tau kee (beancurd skin) and free flow soup 》$12 (2 Pax) / $2 Enoki

My first time trying dry and herbal BKT and I think I like this better than the peppery version! The dry version has generous portions of ribs that are cut shorter and much easier to eat, and a dark sauce gravy that goes amazingly with the white rice. Herbal soup also tastes very soothing and I loved the enoki mushrooms.

BKT, liver soup, and fried dao ki, in dark sauce. What can I say, I am blessed to be near this BKT store, fast and efficient, with the soup that is growing on me day by day. And those liver?! Done so right, you can't stop. What about that fried dao ki, sedap!

Finally, Singapore is catching on the dry version. It's yummy enough, but comparing to Klang, Malaysia. We are still lacking. While the flavor packs enough taste, it's lacking in the dried cuttlefish to bring the dish to another level. Dried chilli could have be stronger. But overall, satisfied.

Somewhere near my place @ Jalan Kayu - Tried the bak kut teh, pork liver & large intestines. Overall it's not bad but refill of soup was not even warm at all. Will feedback on my next visit
