Found the most exquisite cakes in this hidden gem! Black Diamond, happily, reminded us of the inimitable G Spot by @patisserieg. The rich chocolate mousse packed a punch but the cake was missing some crunchiness. We also tried their Tiramisu, which had the softest mascarpone layer and struck the perfect balance between bitter and sweet. In sum, this bakery was an absolute delight: rustic, traditionalist, nothing too fancy or pretentious about their cakes. Been back twice, will be back again.

Gruyere powerful, cured salmon firm and briny, fitting the woody Savour of the mushrooms that accompany it. Haven't had a good CM for a while, so good to find a source...

This was actually the reason why we headed to Niche Savoureuse for desserts — to try their Nyonya 3-Layered Kueh which seems to be served only on weekends.

Think of this as their twist to the Kueh Salat; the top layer is still Pandan Custard, while the middle lies a mix of tapioca, sweet corn, cream and coconut milk and the bottom is a layer of orange sweet potato kueh. The result was a pretty interesting twist; the top layer providing that familiar Pandan flavour without being overly sweet while the middle layer tasted pretty much of coconut milk though with a more fibrous texture due to the input of other ingredients. The bottom sweet potato adds a distinct sweetness to the Kueh which made it feel pretty natural as opposed to adding excessive amounts of sugar to the Pandan Custard layer. The only gripe was that the texture could be improved on; the Pandan Custard layer often fell off from the bottom two layers when cut, and the bottom layer could be a little bit more moist for a more coherent texture. Still, it is a very interesting twist to the Kueh Salat that works great if you are looking for something that is unlike the usual cake if in the area.

Hadn't been visiting Niche Boulangerie in a while, and decided to head down after lunch since there was a direct bus there anyway. The Strawberry Cheesecake is actually pretty decent for its $6.50 price tag — creamy, smooth and luscious cream cheese layer topped with strawberry gel atop; lightly tart but exuding much of the berry flavour without being overly sweet. Within the cheesecake are also slices of strawberry, while all of it sits atop a graham cracker base to induce a cookie-like texture and flavour underneath.

I really liked this even though pasta ain't al dente. 😻

Skipping breakfast just for that fancy all day breakfast to be eaten during lunch time. 🍽🥐🍳🥓 oh well~ if it's makes me happy, why not? All Day Breakfast! Scrambled Eggs, Smoked Sausage, Bacon, Shrooms & a slice of our Toasted Pannetone Sweetbread made fr Natural Yeast. the REAL deal lasagne - minced pork loin slow cooked in a tomato & mushroom red wine sauce; layered with béchamel, mozzarella & parmesan. Absolutely absolutely yummy! ^^v

:) I want to remember all the happy moments in life only.

Soft creamy sponge with a hint of lychee and rose. Delectable!

Black Truffle Carbonara ($14.90)
Black truffle infused fresh cream, Parmesan, mixed mushroom & bacon
Available at @NicheSavoureuse
It tasted very rich and creamy truffle taste, topped with thinly sliced truffle. Yummy.
But can't say for its Iced Matcha Tea ($4.80) which lacks of tea flavour, and sweetness.

The newly renovated cafe has more seats and new savoury dishes now. The rustic marinara sauce was good, with al dente pasta. The large meatball had a very earthy, basil taste to it. Overall comforting and homely feel to it. I could do with a bigger portion of pasta though. At $12.90, it is rather expensive.

Visually appealing because of the dramatic effects of the meringue. Taste-wise it fares well with the meringue giving a marshmallow-like sweetness atop the slightly tart lemon curd. Texture however felt a bit off; the whole tart seemed a tad too wet and rather mushy as a result. Still, rather decent for the money.

Bought a cake home and continued to chill my Friday night away. When I first saw the cake, I thought the size is quite pathetic for $5.90. But at least the taste packs a punch. Love the thick cream cheese layer that has a coat of raspberry jam or something. The cake may look thin but it's soft and fluffy. The meringue went well w everything. Now I'm craving for more 🙊
