Located at Frasers Tower, this place provides great ambience for couples or groups alike, with its wide selection of soju, cocktails, sake and some concoctions of their own (resembling local delights like chicken rice etc). You can stay there and just chill or just go there for a quick meal. This place is called Relish in the day but at night it transforms into Roketto Izakaya. No idea even what that means. Hahaha. We were there at night.

I didn’t get to try the concoctions. The Sng Muay Volka was strong and pretty nice. The sojus were meh even after we asked the server to make it stronger for us as we did not taste any alcohol. (No, we are not alcoholics and that’s precisely the point as even my friend who usually blushes full red immediately after consuming alcohol felt no impact). However we must say the server was very nice to offer us a free refill of the soju thereafter. Great service!

Food was served in small portions. Even the mains were in smaller portion. However, they were pretty good! The shot of fish soup was really tasty and after dipping the piece of fried fish into the shot of soup, it absorbed the soup and squirks it out when you bite into it. Yumzzzz. That cost $4.50 for a small piece of fish and a shot of fish soup though.

Scallop her giao, one of the dishes, was my favourite. The scallop was so juicy and flavourful, I would have ordered more if not for the fact that we had many other dishes. Don’t share this. Just eat it yourself. It’s just two piece and trust me, it’s not enough.

Rest of the food wasn’t really that memorable but overall, I say we paid for the ambience and the novelty.

One such local establishment is NJ Relish, housed inside Ascott at Raffles Place which serves a buffet breakfast for guests, set menu for lunch and ala carte for dinner. They have an extensive ala carte menu which you can start your meal with a creamy Wild Mushroom Soup ($14) which uses 3 kinds of mushrooms and perfumed with truffle oil, Foie Gras with Asparagus ($24) and Truffle Fries ($14). From the grill, the lady had the Salmon ($36) while I opted for the Angus Striploin ($42) which comes with sautéed mushrooms, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and finished with a Shiraz red wine reduction.

Despite this current Covid-19 situation, NJ Relish will remain open to diners and there’s a 50% discount when you order delivery from Foodpanda and Deliveroo. If you choose to dine-in, you can get 55% off the total bill when you reserve your table via http://bit.ly/njgroupreservations.

Got the Angus Striploin ($48) in medium, texture is alright overall but there were a lot of ligaments, making it a bit difficult to chew. Mash potato was smooth, vegetables were okay. Would be better with more sauce!

The Foie Gras Risotto ($34) was well done; texture of risotto grains were just nice and the foie gras was flavourful without being too jelat. Creaminess wasn’t too overpowering as well, but price point was steep even after using Burpple Beyond.

Combine both mushroom soup and risotto and you get this dish. It went pretty well together and the foie gras really helped to add a nice punch of flavour with every bite.

A big push factor for this place is that the price is still pretty steep despite the discount. I would have preferred to get a meal of the same quality from somewhere else.
